14 weeks without a weave or braids to hide my hair, and needless to say I will never do that again, I shedded all over the place :perplexed, damn near lost all my hair. Stretching is not for me. :nono:

6 months is the longest. I only like to get a touch-up every 6 months, so the stretch doesnt bother me too much.

Almost 16 weeks. It was really hard dealing with the ng. I just wore updos everday. Not sure if I could go longer but thinking about it.

Eight and a half months. After stretching that long I feel like I will never get my hair relaxed more often than that ever again. Hair care feels "easy" now that I've found the products and techniques that work for me.

I'm just about at the end of a 12 week stretch and it's my longest thus far.

It's been all right except my hair the last few weeks has been looking like a hot mess. I cannot control my edges at all.

14 weeks....I won't ever do that again.:nono:

Just curious why? Hope you don't mind me asking. My longest stretch in the past has been 13 wks/5days. I am currently 13 wks 4 days into a 14 week stretch and contemplating 15 wks. So far so good...I am nervous and taking it one wash at a time. I don't want any unexpected surprises. Just curious what the experience was for others that have stretched this long. I am 4bzzz by the way. TIA

Also wondering what your experience was and why you would ever stretch that long again? TIA
Once I got to about 13 weeks, my hair was very difficult to manage. Things I'd done before weren't really working. It was difficult to detangle, even with conditioner or under water. And it really didn't look good. Once I saw that, I should've just relaxed it but I pushed it to 14 weeks anyway.

My mother does my touch ups and she was having a hard time also. She told me next time I tried stretching so long I better have someone else do my hair :lachen: It really wasn't worth it.

12 weeks is good enough for me. But if it's working for you, I'd continue on. Just do what your hair tells you.

Thanks so much for the quick response. This really helps a lot. My wash tomorrow will determine if I go any longer. What happened to you is just what I am afraid of happening to me. I don't blame your Mom at all for the threat :lachen: I don't want to get too greedy and realize it wasn't worth it.
I am not going to push it past the warning signs and lose all my progress.:nono:

Now at 12 weeks..guess I can call myself a transitioner because I can thus far deal with the new growth and I want to see if my LHCF knowledge can help me care for natural hair.

The longest stretch I've ever done was 30 wks. Why am I frontin on myself? I'd basically started transitioning, ha? :lachen:Anyhoo, I texlax anywhere from 16-24 wks, depending on how lazy I am and how much my hair is irking me.

6 months after 2 months post relaxer and another 4 in braids. I did this twice but I lost a lot of progress I think - at least my stylist warned me not to do that again or I would be back to square 1 (I guess just past shoulder length). :perplexed

about 1 year and 2 months. The last couple of months it was kinda hard dealing with the two textures but overall it was okay. I was able to fill in my edges and thicken my hair. I think the longest I'll go from now on is maybe 6 mons.

Just started my second seventeen week stretch! I was able to control my new growth pretty well the first time around, with daily moisturizing, conditioning, and a defrissant balm applied to NG on shampoo days, once a week! My hope is to not have any major shedding in between relaxers. At this rate, I'll relax only three times a year! Yeaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

6 months. I was inspired by Sylver2. I made a few mistakes during the first 6-month stretch, but with my last 6-month stretch, I had learned all the dos and donts, so it was good to go. I am gonna do another one starting in the Fall. Can't do it for the summer, 'cause I would be looking really busted. :nono:
