How often do you go to the hair salon?

I've been thinking about going to the hair salon once a week, to get a wash and flat iron? Just wanted to know if anybody else had a similar regime.

I go to the salon every 2 months or so to get my hair washed, pressed, and curled. It's too damaging and might I add, expensive, if I went any sooner or frequently than that. In between those two months I'm the only one responsible for doing my hair. ;)

I never go to the salon, but I know many of the ladies on here go once a week and get blowouts, wash and sets, etc..

I go as often as I can when I can afford it. I've got a little money in pocket (for now, anyway) so I've been going every 2 weeks and washing at home in-between. When the cash isn't there (more often than not) I just go for my regular 8 week touch up.

In the past I would go to the salon as often as possible--usually every other week. Since starting my transition in January 2005, I've been 2 times to a salon and once to a barber (for a trim) I think he charged me $8.00.

If I was wearing my hair straight, then I would go as often as my budget would allow --usually every other week.

Depending on how much you pay--I see nothing wrong with a weekly or biweekly appointment.

Here in the bay area beauticians charge anywhere from $45.00 and up which would break my budget.

Okay, I'm getting it done in Oakland for $25.00 and I can bring all of my own products. Which is the reason why I think she's only charging a fairly decent price. I dont mind using my own stuff b/c the idea of having the choice to selecting my own products gives me more control of my hair.

I only go to the salon once every 12 weeks to get touch ups and trim. Its the only time that I will get a blow out and curl. I usually rollerset my hair own hair 1-2X/week.

Mika, I would be interested int this salon. The last salon I went to the stylist was charging between $65.00 and $80 for a shampoo/style. She always gave me a discount. I've called around and most of the salons were charging $45 and up.

$25.00 is very fair and reasonable. :)

I don't go to the salon. Last time I went was....hmmm, I can't remember. It was YEARS ago. I think the last stylist who did my hair was Jane Carter. And I don't think she actually does hair anymore.

I go to the salon for flat ironing every three weeks. I wash, condition and airdry my own hair, then go to the salon just for flat ironing. When my hair is about 90% dry I blowdry it on a warm setting to make the ironing process easier.

I don't go to a salon on a regular. ONly when I am too lazy to do my own hair will I journey to a salon and that is usually to a Dominican salon to get a blow-out.

I might go to the salon every 8-12 weeks for maybe a shampoo/deep condition and blow out but that's about it. The last time I was in a salon
was about 9 months ago for a basic shampoo, blowdry and curl which costs me $60.00!!

I go about once every 3 months for a blowout and trim. I'm transitioning and I don't want any damage to my hair by going more often.

I go to the salon EVERY single week for my wash-n-sets. I go every 8-9 weeks for my touch ups.

last time i went was mid-july, for a blowout b/c i had pictures to take the next day and i needed my new growth straight, before that was in March, and before was in January, lol. So basically, every 3-4 months or so, when i have an event coming up, and that's at Dominican salons.

i don't go for touch-ups or after touch-ups b/c i can deal with my hair on my own then. The heat makes my scalp sore...

At one point I was going every two weeks, but since I have found this board that has went down dramatically. I have only been to get my hair done twice this year and both times it was for a blowout.

NEVER. Whatever needs to be done to my hair, I do it. Relaxers (when I was relaxing), color, trims, blowouts, styles, etc.

Ditto.

The last time I went was 2 or 3 years ago, I stopped because I got tired of sitting around for 4-6 hours and paying $60 to $80 for the privilege. Also, the stylist was mediocre at best.

Amen on that one. That is my reason for discontinuing salon visits.

I go every 8 weeks for a touch up and sometimes in between when I can afford it. I also hate the wait then hate to spend the money for the wait. They always start off good the first time (getting you in and out, it took me an hour to get a relaxer/do the first time) then it just goes downhill.

I only go the salon for a relaxer touch-up and that's about every 3 months. And just maybe for a special occasion, I'll go in for a wash and style.

I haven't been to a salon in 1.5 years. I just have not found a stylist that can care for my hair better than me.
