i just purchased aphogee treatment. i wasn't sure whether i was supposed to get the 2 minute stuff or the strong stuff. has anyone ever used the treatment? any advice will be appreciated...

btw: i've been using keraphix, but my hair is still breaking; how long should i wait before using the treatment?

The treatment is excellent in stopping breakage in its tracks! But before you use it, please purchase the aphogee balancing moisturizer **VERY IMPORTANT** and use it after you wash out the treatment along with another moisturizing conditioner of your choice. (If you neglect to use their balancer, you hair will feel very strawlike - at least it did to me.) Remember not to manipulate your hair in any way once the treatment has been applied. Sit under the dryer (with nothing on your head, no plastic cap, no heating cap... absolutely nothing) for about 15-20 mins. until hair is fully hard. Go into the SHOWER (much easier) and rinse out WITHOUT manipulating your hair. Once all of the gunk
is out, follow up with the other products i listed above.
About the 2 min. reconstructor, that's like keraphix but cheaper. I do like it but when I ran out i didn't repurchase it because i still had some keraphix left.
p.s. if you just used the keraphix say monday, wait until next wednesday to use the treatment.

the aphogee balancing moisturizer is definately essential. It also says on the back of the treatment to follow up with that. You can always add your other moisturizing cond to the mix.

ok, so is the balancing moisturizer a moisturizing conditioner or just a moisturizer to use after you follow with a moisturizing conditioner?

LOLOL
, I had to reread your question about 5 times b4 my brain clicked. But IMO it's not a 'moisturizing' conditioner. It doesn't give you slip or softness that is why after I apply it, I apply my keracare or mizani and LUST.
p.s. use it right after the aphogee treatment and before or in collusion w/ your moisturizing conditioner.

Lol! I reread it too and it was pretty confusing.

Sorry about that
Thanks!

I agree with Caramelhonee, you need the Balancing conditioner. Without it, your hair might get sticky and tangled.

i think ION reconstructer is HEAPS better, it will leave your hair ultra soft (it has loads of panthenol), strong and a lil goes a long way!!! aphogee stinks, stings and takes over half hour to dry plus it dries out the hair

I have used the Aphogee treatment three times so far without the balancing conditioner and have gotten great results without it. After I wash out the Aphogee I follow it with a regular conditioner like Clairol Renewal 5x or Herbal Essences. I don't think the Balancing Conditioner is essential but that is just my opinion.

caramel honey: thanx for the info! i was so apprehensive about using it, but now im excited... being the pessimist (sp) that i am, i had already bought the moisturizing stuff because i was scared my hair would fall out if i didn't do as the bottle said. *L* wish me luck...

pandora mentioned that it stings, whoa! whats up with that? did it sting you too?

the information you received about purchasing the aphogee balancing cond with the treatment is great!! i just did a treatment and followed the instructions to the tee, and my hair is silky, strong and this product is great.

I think its better to use the aphogee 2 min mosturizer after the treatment. Maybe some can get away without using it, but its better to follow the instructions, and then u can use another conditioner to get more mosturizer and softness.

sorry for the late response sylvia but it only stings if
1) you got it done right after a relaxer (a big no-no) and
2) if you've been scratching your head consistently and than used the product. It doesn't hurt sting, it's just a tingly type sting.
Either way, i don't recommend it

There is no board.
I'm with JRW on this one. Aphogee recc. using their balancing moisturizer because well...they make it so they are going to suggest it. I used it and it did nothing for me so I have always used Keracare humecto in lieu of their balancing moisturizer with great results!

What do you mean I can't use this right after a relaxer?!
I am about to perm my hair in a few minutes and I purchased the Aphogee yesterday because my hair is shedding really bad lately! When CAN I use it safely? I'm on a budget and I can't afford to be buying anymore stuff this week. LOL!

I say you can use it after a relaxer. It can only help your hair. I usually just do a deep condition but why not a protein conditioner?

Well I have a feeling it is going to burn the sh*t out of my head! I just got done rinsing the perm out. I've got the motions moisture plus conditioner on it right now. I keep on reading the bottle, but I'm scared now. Maybe I should just do a hot oil treatmet with my jojoba oil...what do you think? I haven't deep conditioned my hair in a couple of weeks. I've been stressed, depressed and everything else.
I'm trying to get back on track and take care of my hair that I have worked so hard on these past 7 months.

Ultimately you have to decided what is best for your hair. I honestly don't think it is going to do any harm. It can only help your hair. If you don't feel like doing it now, wait until you do feel like putting it in your hair.

thanx CH, that stinging comment had me a lil frightened...
for the person who wants to do the treatment after relaxing, i just read in one of supergirls post that doing it right away will probably make your relaxer revert....

To aphogee users, how much protein do you use in the weeks after doing the treatment? Do you focus more on using moisturizing conditioners/leave-ins or protein, or both? I'll try to re-phrase my question if it's not clear to anyone

If you had breakage and then used the treatment, was it necessary to continue using products especially containing protein to maintain the strength of your hair, OR was the treatment sufficient and you can go about doing the moisture-thing until the next protein treatment

SC i was wondering that same thing. aphogee is supposed to last 6wks, so i was debating whether that realxer rule "protein=1wk before/1wk after relaxing" applies...

ANYONE?

SC - This is what I do...
I use the aphogee every 4-6 weeks... every other week I mix a little nexxus keraphix with my humecto. So far so good. BUT i should add that growing up, all I ever used was the aphogee treatment (even after a relaxer and BOY DID THAT STING LIKE NOBODY's BUSINESS) and I was not a fan of deep conditioning treatments and the like and my hair was better off than than it is now (i guess stress can really mess up your do
). As you can see, I'm rambling but to answer the second portion of your question, one treatment every 4-6 weeks is enough and your regular moisturizing conditioner will do just fine.

I try to use Aphogee about every six to eight weeks. Sometimes I wait longer. In between I do a lot of deep conditioning treatments with moisturizing conditioners. I base everything on how my hair is doing. If my hair is doing great, I will extend the times between protein conditioners. Right now I am away from home. I last used Aphogee in mid to late August. I will not use Aphogee again until January.
