But it's tailbone length.

Hey everyone,

It feels crazy to say this but I've finally decided to make short information hair videos on youtube.

Here's my first video explaining why I haven't combed my hair in two years and what I do instead. Also why I think it's contributed to my hair growth.

I'm on the train now but as soon as I get home, I'll insert some pictures here!

I'd love to hear any requests or feedback :)

Thank you!

I love your hair! I do not think I would be able to do my hair without combing it. My hair has too many different hair types for me to even think about not using a comb!

I finger detangle too but every so often I have to rely on using combs so kudos for being able to not rely on that.

Your hair is lovely as always. You may want to speak up a bit more in your videos and you seem to go off tangent a bit which may turn off some viewers. Also with it being titled as a how-to people may be expecting a short demonstration of how you finger detangle as there are different ways of doing it as showing is better than explaining. Perhaps you can try that for your next video? All in all a good first video and I'm excited to see more. Congrats on reaching hiplength! I can't wait to see more videos.

Cute video! Love your accent. I've learned that my type 4 hair hates combs, too, and it's best to detangle using my fingers.

Thanks for posting!

Wow. I'll have to try to see if I can give up the comb. My hair gets sooo tangled sometimes. Thanks for sharing this video. And congrats on your lovely hair! I do agree with the other poster who mentioned turning up the volume on your video, though, because it was a bit hard to hear. But great overall!

Fantastic!! Congratulations! I love your hair!

Now... could you do a video tutorial? I'm always up for adding tips to my arsenal to protect my fine strands. How often do you detangle and how do you keep from getting tangles at the root?

Thanks everyone! I was really nervous :)

lovely_locks - thank you! Perhaps try integrating it when your her is saturated with something whether it be conditioner or a leave in, I also do it on dry hair :) what are your hair types? :)

Fhrizzball - thank you so much girl! I totally agree with your suggestions! I have a microphone, I don't know why I didn't use it throughout the whole video :( as simple as it is, I literally just separate as I showed in the video but I'll try to be clearer next time :) do you have any suggestions for any upcoming videos? :)

I would do a lot of finger combing. Not sure if I could do absolutely no combing.

Funny, I haven't used a comb/brush on my hair is a couple of month and, though my hair isn't as long as the OP, I've not only managed to retain some length, but shedding and SSI's have decreased and my hair barely tangles anymore.

I didn't make a conscience effort to stop combing. It actually came about out of pure laziness when I realized how easy finger detangling was. So I think I'll stick with it. Who knows? Maybe one day my hair will be long too!

Me neither, i think i am going on 2 years now. I don't think it's controversial like you said in your vid their are loads of naturals who don't.

I only detangle when washing with a head full of conditioner, I use a pulling technique.

Hey Inspiired! I think that for newbies, it may be good to post a video about what products you use and how you apply them and how often you apply them. Because I hear a lot of ladies in the UK complain that they don't have the same products that we have in the U.S. So maybe a video like that would be helpful to people starting their HHJ, especially ladies in the UK.

THIS.....I do it under running water or wet with conditioner and a variety of techniques depending on how lazy i am...I only detangle when I'm washing it and that's only about 20-30 start to finish. .....

IronButterfly - that's great! I, myself have also noticed that SSK's are almost non-exsistant. Same! I say "simple" but really I'm "lazy" and low maintenance :yep:

melissa-bee - when I said "controversial" I was joking :) definitely detangling with a full head of conditioner is great! I tend to do a lot of dry detangling though :)

TraciChanel - those are great suggestions! Thank you very much, I'll definitely do this :)

Inspiired!
It doesn't take your four hours does it?
anyway nice hair!

blackeyed31626 - haha not at all! It's pretty quick once you get into the habit. Would you believe me if I said I actually enjoy it!? :)

I have type 3b,c, and 4a. My hair has a tendency to dread together when it reaches' a certain length.

lovely_locks - oh I understand! In that instance, have you tried saturating with an oil/conditioner and then separating/pulling?

I'm curious! I would love to see styles you do without detangling the hair and how you trim your hair. Please show me the way!

Thanks for the video and inspiration! You and your hair are beautiful! I'm slowly coming around to the no comb thing but it's so hard to break old habits! LOL!

YouR hair is beautiful OP!

Fingercombing/sectioning only worked for me when my hair was shorter. I get to many knots and tangles if I keep it up. I shed like a beast though, so I really have to get that shed hair out.

It just goes to show how different everyone is.

My hair would be a knotty mess if I didn't comb it or use my denman brush.

What does it look like freshly washed? How do you get the stretch?

Inspiired I'm so glad you decided to do a youtube afterall! I just had my first full head finger detangling session and I must say, it's a keeper. My hair has never looked better, its more bouncy, moist, clumpy-- everything I wanted has been answered to allow me to move forward. I think once I get the hang of it, I will have a fairly short routine & complete regimen (n ready to retain) :yep: .
