Using Gel As An Edge Control

How do you feel about using gel as an edge control? If that's something that you regularly do, which gels do you most recommend, and does gel work better on certain hair types for this purpose?

Finally, have you used a standard edge control pomade--such as Hick's or ORS? If so, what was your experience like? And how does it compare to gel?

I apply gel with a little water and smooth with a brush on a daily basis. I tried Hick's but did not like it

I have used Shine and Jam, Elasta QP Glaze, Cream of Nature Edge Control, but my favorite gel is Design Essentials Sleek Edge Control. Here is a picture of my edges at about 11-12 weeks post relaxer.

I'm not a huge fan of gel on my edges. I mostly use Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste or a thick butter and a satin scarf to set. That gives my multi day hair more than gel would.

I will use gel in a pinch and if its wash day though. I always have a tub of Ecostyler and Fantasia IC gels in my stash.

I use gels on my edges often, especially when I do buns and updos. I've tried a multitude of them and my fav is Hicks edge control. Expensive but worth it.

I like the Curls control paste when I want a really sleek, almost like I relaxed my edges look and aloe vera gel when I just want a nice, tame appearance.
Eco works really well but doesn't always play nice with my other products so I try to avoid using it.

I use Curls Passion Fruit Control Paste to control my edges...

I normally use plain ol' Aloe Vera Gel most of the time... But if I have heavy build up or week old hair... I'll use Curls.

The AVG gets my edges straighter...but ultimately they both are water based so I have to tie my edges down w/ a scarf.

It depends but I use either blue Eco styler or I use control fruit paste but I think syntonics edge define has a better hold

Or That may be just me talking myself into buying it again lool

Gel has been applied to these edges since I was about 13 and get my own (my mother wouldn't buy it). I am natural so it depends. When my hair is blow dried, I use ORS edge control. I like to use ORS edge control and beeswax when my hair is blow dried and EcoStyler Olive Oil otherwise. I like these because they not only give good hold but also wash out easily.

Ecostyler Olive Oil plays very well with Carefree Curl Gold on my 28 weeks post relaxer hair. Very soft, with no crunch.
