Natural Hair - seekin straight hair!

I've been natural for 6 months which was good and low maintenance however I never liked the look. I got a blow dry yesterday and flat ironed it. It was gorgeous but then frizzed out in the atmosphere. My family and I all think I look better with straight hair and I love it too_Only issue is what products can I use to to maintain a frizz free hair?

I am type 4a/b

I like the bone straight look however I left relaxers due to hair breakage, reduced volume and hated dealing with regrowth every 6-12 weeks (when extending my relaxer).

I know straight voluminous hair is achievable with blow dryers, denman brushes, a flat iron and good products but is there any way to avoid blow dryers and still achieve straightened sleek hair on a type 4? I am also aware that moisture is the key and I'm suspecting my hair is high porous as only wih S curl, my hair keeps moist for half of the day. Otherwise, other products I've used result in dryness.

Thank you

There's a good thread called the secret to perm straight hair. I think that will be a good one.

Also, have you looked into texture management system? I have never tried it, but members post about it like it's the GOAT.

Using salon quality products are my #1 recommendation. KPak Smoothing Balm or Suave Professionals Heat Defense Leave-In are some good quality thermal protecting balms that prevent frizz and humidity. Also anti-humectant/frizz sprays are good as well. If you're on a budget, grease is another option that will work just as well.

Yes! Do a roller set! After you shampoo and condition your hair, do a deep conditioning treatment (with the aforementioned products above or similar) and sit under the dryer for 20-30 min. You can then straighten and it will give you perm straight hair. If you don't want to go through the hair dryer route, you can straighten from damp to dry with aluminum foil placed on both plates of the straightener and you will get a sleek perm press.

Awesome thread! I've recently started straightening my hair and find that it reverts way too quickly and doesn't get as straight as I'd like it to be. I'll definitely try some of these tips.

I second the texture manageability system. I also use a round brush for the chase method. Good luck!
