Your Holy Grail Deep Conditioner???

Hey Yall! I haven't been on here in for-ever. I'm just getting back into taking care of my hair after popping out two babies in the past 3 yrs (hair care has been the least of my concerns - sadly). The price of hair products has blown UP, btw. I thought my 12 dollar AOHR was bad back in the day, but smh nahhh apparently not.
My go to Conditioner used to be Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose, but it literally does NOTHING for my hair now. Idk if my hair has changed completely or if it's the formulation. Either way I'm stuck without that ahhmazing moisturized feeling.
I've tried TGIN Honey Hair Mask, Alikay Naturals & Shea Moisture Mafura and Manuka DC's. The TGIN and Alikay condish's were good but not great, and the Shea Moisture Mafura and Manuka Honey DC did nothing. I know I should just try more products, but I am not a PJ by nature and it's painful shoveling out much-needed coins on products that don't work. You ladies hooked me up with my original baby, can you pleeaase help me find my new boo?!

I really need a bomb conditioner that has mostly natural ingredients, and I'm talking make.you.wanna.cry.and.call. yo. mama. MOISTURE.

Please share your hair type and porosity, along with your favorite amazing conditioner below. Hopefully, it'll help some other ladies looking for the right conditioner too!

Hair Type: 4a/4b
Porosity: High
Cottony, Fine, & High Density
Favorite Conditioner: R.I.P AOHR
:thankyou:

Thanks for responding! I haven't heard of any of these brands outside of Camille Rose, I'll be checking them out. Do you know your hair type and porosity? And how would you rank those you listed?

Have you tried the @JustKiya salt and/baking soda addition to your regular conditioner? I tried it a long time ago and I loved the way my hair felt. I have no idea why I stopped. I'll bump the thread since I cannot figure out how to attach it from my phone.
You know, I actually did several years ago. I remember it was all good the first few times, then it started making my hair feel super weak. I'll read back up on it though, my hair may have changed its tune these days. Thanks :)

My hair is 4a/4b and fine with high porosity. Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose used to be my holy grail but they changed the formula and it does nothing for my hair. Such a shame. I've moved on to Curls Curl Ecstasy Hair Tea conditioner, and Curl Junkie Curl Rehab moisturizing hair treatment. I also like Shea moisture's conditioners particularly SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Intensive Strengthening masque and their Black Soap Purification Masque.

Hair Type: 4 b/c
Porosity: High

Holy Grail DCs
I have two (listed below), both deliver long lasting moisture, but more than that, they seal the cuticle which reduces friction between the hair strands - which reduces breakage.

Also they make my hair look shiny, which I've never experienced without help from oil sheen or serum. My hair health has significantly improved since using these...I look forward to wash days now

And they are:
  • Joico Moisture Recovery Balm
  • Joico K-pak Intense Hydrator

My hair type: fine, dense, 4A, normal porosity, cottony texture, O (in the LOIS system), MBL

#1: Naturelle Grow's Indian/Pink Clay mask. She has changed the name a few times so here's the link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/235016...g-rose-clay-and-argan?ref=shop_home_active_11

This stuff does some kind of voodoo on my hair. My hair basically detangled itself.

#2: Hair Rules Quench conditioner felt like a deep conditioner on my hair, made it sing but not a "natural" conditioner though it has decent ingredients

#3 (a tie): SM's JBCO or SM's Purification Masque (with the clay)

Since the last one is the only on the ground option for me, I tend to use those most.

My hair is hipo, 4a (O in the LOIS scheme), and I have high density fine strands (a few course parts in the back).

I cosign on the NG Indian Pink Clay Mask. Magical. Voodoo. :yep: I got the sample and will be getting a regular size. While on, keeps my hair super stretched out. Knocks out tangles. I can't remember the moisture after. Will use again and report back.

For softening, my HG is the SM High Porosity Moisture-seal Masque.

My hair felt really good with both the Mielle Organics DC and the TGIN DC.

I have yet to find a DC that leaves me with a lot of moisture. I'm looking, like you.

So far the best longer-lasting moisturizing products I've experienced are: Oyin Hair Dew, Naturalicious clay treatment/wash, and TGIN Green Tea Super Moist Leave In.

4a/4b mix of high and normal porosity as I am transitioning (again). I have had success with Alter Ego Garlic Mask. Caught me by surprise this one. I had been running through a variety of homemade concoctions and store bought conditioners with mostly natural ingredients and this conditioner was saying to my head "stop playing yourself with these other ones".

My hair type is 3C, fine with low density and normal porosity. The DCs I listed are the best of the best in my 350+ arsenal of deep conditioners, so that's saying a lot. Each of them always provides me with exemplary results - soft, highly moisturized and emollient hair.

Oh yeah?? I have the revitaluxe in my stash, but I've been so addicted to the MR balm and the intense hydrator.

Maybe I'll try the revitaluxe this weekend; is it more on the protein side?

Sis, if I may, have you tried clarifying and/or chelating? I can only say this because I've read this in the board several times.

I have clarified but not chelated. Is that balancing the pH of your hair??? I'm sorry ... I'm not too familiar with the term, I've been off my hair game too long obviously.

Thank you ladies for sharing all your faves, please keep them coming!

So, I know I said me and Shea Moisture haven't been cool in the past...but I just tried the JBCO Strength Grow and Restore Leave In and it is literally everrrything to me, I <3 it - I was so surprised I liked it so much. My hair is soft & defined. It makes me want to try the rest of the line, particularly the DC. A few of you lovelies also had it on your lists too, so I'll be picking it up tomorrow evening.

As I understand it: clarifying removes product build-up and chelafinf works under the surface to remove minerals, especially minerals from hard water.

Queens, please feel free to add, enhance, etc. my limited knowledge.

Do you really have 350 deep conditioners? I thought I needed help with the 2 drawerfuls I had.

Here's a video about hard water and chelation (kee-la-shun), including product recommendations.

Makes perfect sense. My hair is definitely exhibiting those symptoms. I'll be picking up a chelating shampoo for this upcoming wash day. I knew about hard water impacting your hair conditioning properly, but I didn't know the effects could be long term. The Science of Hair is pretty amazing, and very helpful video @YvetteWithJoy - Thank you!

You're more than welcome! I hope it helps. If not, keep at it: You'll get to the bottom of it. There's so much to this hair thing! LOL!
