I have been reading the OT a little at a time for about a month and a half now. So far, I'm intrigued by many noted persons and their trials and or triumphs. I'm picking up some things I didn't realize before I started reading.

I just want to know, what are some of the OT folks you relate to or look up to?

Of course there's Abraham, Issac, Jacob....but also Deborah, Ruth, Samuel, Solomon, Jonah...

Anyone have a fav?

I would have to say David because though him we see how God can love you know matter what. David sin lord knows he did but yet he was still considered a man after God's own hear. When he sinned he repended and always came back to God with a pure heart.

Plus I have been known to dance out of my clothes (bra) like David did :D

I like Joseph and Daniel for their faith, commitment and endurance.

I like Solomon because the book of Ecc. showed me what I needed to focus on most and that material things were meaniningless in the grand scheme of things.

Ruth and Esther...two very irresistable women. Irresistable to God... irresistable to the men who became their husbands.

To me that's a woman's fulfullment to the call of her Destiny. For God called both of these woman to change the course of direction of lives who might otherwise have been destroyed.

Ruth was used of God to protect Noami, her mother-in-law. Choosing God...the right God, Ruth was 'found' pleasing in the site of both God and man (Boaz). (In the begats), she became one of the 'mothers in the 'bloodline' of Jesus. (Ruth 4:13-22)

Esther (God's chosen), through her beauty and wisdom went before the King, who received her and vowed to give her whatever she asked of him, even up to half of his kingdom. And with that, after 3 days of fasting and prayer...her actions and interaction with the king, saved her people from destruction.

As wives, these woman where in their right Destiny, for God had a plan and so it was...

So shall it be for anyone one of you....:)

Before the thought arises, "but, I'm not married." So as it WAS with Esther and Ruth...until they were. Again, I say, so shall it be for anyone of you. That's my prayer.. Amen.

"Love, Shimmie..." ;)

Joseph I never ever get tired of reading his story, it amazes me how he had so much faith and trust in God alone. He was completely alone in it. I get blown away every time I read. I love all the other stories but this story really sticks in my heart. He had so much to forgive. When I struggle with forgiveness I think of joseph. I don't have a hard time forgiving anyway because God has blessed me to have compassion for others.

An Hannah- How she prayed for a child for years and years and how she promised God she would give her son to him. I always go over that because I don't think I could have made such a promise, You see how Awesome God is he blessed her and she had many more children and I get weepy every single time I think of it. She never stopped praying though she trusted that God would hear her.

Hi Precious Melody....

You're gonna laugh at me for this. When I saw your thread question, I thought the 'OT' meant the "Off Topic" forum. :drunk:

Okay, now that I'm clear that it's the Old Testament, my favorite persons were Esther, Ruth, Joshua, Isaiah, Abraham.... "Jesus" who was there in every word which was written from the beginning to the end.

Hugs and Blessings to you and your family Melody. :bighug:

Sorry for my 'OT' mix-up...
