The New Dominican PJ Has a Few Reviews

Hey Ladies,

I been hitting up my new favorite spot... my local Dominican BSS, so I wanted to share a few reviews. I have a bad case of HIH Disease today and my stuff is over here smelling
!!!
All products produced in the DR.

I wasn't sure exactly what it was when I purchased it, but did so b/c it looked pretty interesting. It's a very intense green, which looks more like acrylic paint, rather than a hair treatment. There's also no real ingredient listing. The label says it's a Hair Forifying Treatment, w/Apretol-15, Rosemary and Cinnamon. It directs you to follow the treatment w/a mild shampoo. I was advised by the BSS owner to use it for at least 20 mins.

It sat on my hair for 30-40 mins. before I rinsed. I used a good amount, b/c I wasn't sure if it should touch my roots and scalp a bit. I don't think it's necessary now, b/c it doesn't give a tingling feeling or anything. I would be a bit concerned if I had hair color b/c this stuff is super GREEN. But it seemed to rinse well, much better than it did on my hands, my shampoo wasn't green at all. Based on my hair's reaction after rinsing I think it's a protein treatment. Made sense after I read it again. It's a medium to mild treatment, heavier than AO GPB, but not as heavy as Elasta's Breakage Control Serum.

I liked most that it was a pre-poo protein treatment, b/c I was able to put all the moisture back in my hair that pooing takes and I didn't get that drier feeling I sometimes get w/heavier proteins.

This is nice creamy conditioner. Comes in a jar, has a pink labels and states that it's a natural conditioner. Label lists 12 plant sources from which the ingredients originate. Smells good and is wonderfully pink. It's not as heavy as a cholesterol, but a little heavier than Nexxus Humectress (though it has similar qualities). I was directed by the BSS owner to use this one for 20 mins as well. I used it w/coconut milk (which was going south fast & wasn't as oily as typical), but they worked very well together.

It's not a must have, but I'd buy it again. Nice to have in the rotation for conditioner washes, since it softens nicely & smells good.
3 of 5 stars With coconut milk... 3.5 stars.

Saved the best for last
. This is wonderful leave-in w/mink oil and silk. Smells quite pleasant and imparts great softness and that healthy sheen. The minute I put in my hair I see the shine and my hair smells yummy esp after using the 12 en 1
.

This is a definite keeper.
My hair is still smelling good, has a nice softness w/o being mushy and feels well hydrated. J'adore Lacio Lacio!!! Any takers on the purchase of a full bottle of Salerm 21?
J/K.

4.5 of 5 stars (I'm still searching for perfection in a bottle, but this is a superior product
.)

~I had also promised to try coconut milk as a leave-in, but wanted to give a review of Lacio Lacio. So I'll try it next time when I have fresher milk!!!

Senschick, thanks for your detailed review. Did you add anything (like coconut milk) to the lacio?

Thanks Sweetie! I thought of that or actual stars, but what about 4.5 and 3.75?!
I can commit to whole numbers all the time!

No, I let my stored milk go bad. I didn't want rotten milk smell in my hair.
It had this weird film on top that smelled like it was going bad, but under "the skin" it was okay, but barely. It was a can of the organic virgin coconut, from the recesses of the jungle
, so it was lacking the normal preservatives. If I buy this type again I will definitely freeze it. When I wash this weekend I'll add it to the mix!

I agree about the Lacio, Lacio. I didn't like it at first, in comparison to Salerm, but I discovered I needed to use a bit more of it than I do with the Salerm. It is so light. It is a wonderful product. Very light feeling on the hair, but imparts wonderful shine and softness. You can feel the moisture immediately and my hair loves mink oil. I have decided to save Salerm for when I airdry and for when the new growth kicks in heavily. I may even try Salerm for a condit wash and see how it does.

Sengschick, have you ever tried Tropical Avocado? Oh my! It's a must use.....talk about some soft, shiny, moisturized hair....the slip is incredible......the best I have ever experienced with any product

The Bun Master
@Denali: Yeah, it's not stellar, but ok for me. Not trash can material or on the hate list material. Have you tried Miss Key's 10 en 1? I'm wondering how they compare. My BSS didn't have it, but I may order it.

@Ayanapooh: -1/2

@nmfsc: I think my hair likes the Mink Oil too. It's the major difference btwn the two products, b/c they are very similar in content. Salerm for a CW, eh?
No my BSS didn't have the Avocado
... she had something else by Tropical. I can't recall at the moment, maybe honey? Is it better than Nacidit avocado? That was my next purchase along w/the Lacio conditioner.

Hey Sengschick,
Rather than giving it away, I just mix it with other conditioner because I LOVE the smell. Its very similar to Miss Keys
I only had Miss Keyes applied at the salon so I can't say if it has better slip, but it seems pretty moisturizing, IMO
Miss Keyes is currently on sale for 4.75 www.sickbay.biz

You had to throw the sale info in didn't you Denali....tempting the weak
. I love the smell of 12 en 1 too
which is why I wasn't ready to give up on it after my first try. The coconut milk really helped it out this time around, but maybe I'll mix it w/Humectress. Thanks for the tip!

Sengschick, I have never used the Nacidit avocado condit, so I cannot do a comparison for you. All I know is the Tropical Avocado is no joke. Hmm, does Nacidit make an avocado conditioner? lol, I really like the Nacidit olive oil rinse and have the conditioner to match, just haven't used it yet.

Yeah.... they do. I won't do the Allandra & Denali and insert the link though.

You're fast! Good for you! I need to do the same thing. I checked The Black Beauty Supply site and they only carry the Olive Oil one. But my BSS has Olive Oil, Avocado and Wheat Germ Nacidit.

These all sound good.
Do you think these will all become permanent products in your regimen, or do you think you'll be tempted to try more???

sengschick

The Bun Master
@ Donda & Labett: Thanks! Happy it was helpful.
@Army: YES, Wheat Germ!!! I'll be reviewing the Nacidit line next.
I wish I had known this before I bought the Salerm Wheat Germ, b/c I certainly would have tried it first. The Salerm Wheat Germ is really nice though. Esp when you need hot oil, but are too lazy. My BSS not only has the regular sized jars of Nacidit... she has salon sized tubs!!! And I have no control.

@Deeply: I live in a state of constant temptation.... I continue to come to LHCF every day!

According to Tai they are related. So she should have most of what you are looking for. Harlet's sell products too. But they aren't down the street. The salon is off of I-94 (or 96?) and the BSS is off of I-75 on Vernor.

The salon is off of 94. Since both intersect Springwells, it's easy to assume that they're close by but they're not. The woman who owns the BSS told me that she was Harlet's aunt. But I can't tell you if they're blood related or "other." You know how we are. I have "neices" all over the place but I'm an only child.
So they might be related in the same way I'm "related" to my neices.

She has some Salerm, Nacidit, Lafier and other products. What she doesn't have, Harlet might, like Salerm 21. But save me a bottle, por favor. If they don't have it, sickbay.biz should.

Exactly, what I was thinking.....I have several "cousins" of no relation!
