Anyone find Natural products Oyin, Asha's etc. not all that?

I wanted to like em' I really did! But in the end they just seem to cost more, come in smaller containers and do less for my hair.

I do like 'shine and define' for slicking my puffs down but I still have to tie it down with a scarf to make it stay. My bf loves the smell of 'whipped pudding' so I use it for him. Greg Juice was ok but nothing special. I didnt like any of it enough to purchase again and am skeptical about trying new lines of hype..I mean uuh products. Is there anybody out there that can feel my pain or is it just me???

To this day haven't found ANYTHING that works better on my hair than pure plain ol' Shea Butter.

I didn't care for neither myself. I ended up giving away my products:(

If you take the time, you could make all of these products yourself if you wanted. I've been working on a couple of recipes and I find that I like mines better than the things I'm buying. I do love Oyin Greg juice & Honey Hemp conditioner though. I will always buy those items. But as far as creams, butters and oils....I've tried so many of them and I'm always a bit dissapointed.

You mean it didn't fix your hair or your feet Deedabug

I know what you mean about smells. I hate the way Greg Juice smells and everyone raves about how good it smells. It reminds me of ginger, I hate the taste and smell of ginger.

The only thing I like about Oyin is her funk butter (fabulous and I do mean fabulous stuff) and her lip balms (unequaled in my opinion). I haven't like ANY of her hair stuff and the smell of the body bar (candy) was absolutely horrible.

I have to say that I do love all the Asha's stuff I have purchased.

I agree with you girl. I spent a lot of money on all of this stuff, made a couple of repeat purchases, then ended up realizing I got the same results with s-curl, wgho and a few other things I can get from the bss or even walgreens or cvs. But I guess you live and learn. I will not be tempted by the next big thing.:p

I ALMOST jumped on a couple of the natural products bandwagons. But then I realized that what I was already using/doing was working fine. So why bother. I'm sure I would have been one of those people who would have ultimately been disappointed by the results. Everything just doesn't work for everybody ;)

Well, I have tried several natural haircare lines. My favorite is Myhoneychild, even though I ended up selling a few of the items that I bought because they were not "all that" in my opinion and I have other products that work better; I like most of the shampoos, a few conditioners, and a few hair styling products from this line. I like Oyin Whipped Pudding, Greg Juice, and Honey Hemp Conditioner and will probably repurchase those, but not the Shine and Define. I like Qhemet Biologics, but not enough to purchase full sizes of the products, and I like Asha's but the Mane Attraction wasn't that attractive to me, even after all the rave reviews I read. I still love the Heavenly Hair Puddiing, Sunkissed Pomade, Coco de Leche and Silk Rose Elixir. Akiva Naturals also has a nice Oil called Fiwi and a pomade by the same name. For the most part, I like the products that I have purchased, but not all of them were "keepers".

I just make my own version of the same thing and use 100% of the natural product and give myself 3 tbl. to whatever "1" drop theyare throwing into those bottles. You know they are not giving anything aaway for free. As long as they mist some shea butter, palm oil, coconut oil into a huge vat, they call it natural and a miracle. lol So I say, I can do better for myself than that. I do not play with my money!!!lol Bonjour

CCD - hair milk, hair hated it!! I am relaxed and my hair was like "what is this?" Hair butter, same thing

Oyin - shine and define - made my hair hard, hemp conditioner did nothing.
But the greg's juice and the whipped pudding are the bomb! my braid outs are shiny and soft!

Yeah not everything works for everyone!

I was disappointed with Myhoneychild personally and don't like the smell of Asha's Mane Attraction--the smell of the Heavenly Hair Pudding is a bit strong for me too. The Sun Kissed did nothing for me but I really like the Coco De Leche.

I actually love all the Oyin products--the only one that is nothing special is the Honey Hemp Conditioner. But the Greg Juice, Whipped pudding, Honey sticks (well not the tints though--don't like the consistency), and Candy Bar (WHO didn't like the smell lol??) are great.

I'm just stickin to keepin it simple these days and goin with what I know. and I know simple works just fine and saves me $$$$ and a whole lotta hassle.

I havent tried any of the products mentioned on this thread yet. (not that I havent been tempted) but my reasoning and logic always wins over the temptation. and my hair is still doin just fine without em.

After trying Oyin products, I really like the Shine and Define, the Whipped Pudding, Grand Poo Bar and the unscented Funk Butter Deodorant. I was not impressed with the Honey Hemp Conditioner at all, and the Greg Juice is okay, but nothing to write LHCF about. What I really like about Oyin is the stellar customer service. It's tops in my opinion.

Now THAT I will agree with. Excellent CS and that stands for alot. Another reason I was hoping to be a repeat customer but oh well...

I hadn't been impressed w/ honey hemp as a conditioner when i got it last November, but I've used it as a leave-in since then and it works great as a moisturizing leave-in.

Yeah, I bought the Oyin Juices and Berries...if it didn't smell do darn good I would have been extremely disappointed b/c it does absolutely nothing for my hair, the Honey Hemp Condish is the bomb though (as a leave in)... the Shine and define doesn't hold my edges back at all :nono: .

I recently bought Qhemet Biologic's Honey Bush Tea Soft Hold Gel and was disappointed...it didn't HOLD anything and it has too much glycerine in it for my tastes (makes my hair sticky), but I don't blame it on being all natural, it just wasn't for my hair.

Oyins products are good
Honey hemp conditioner-smells great and great ingredients, I only got the sample so not enough to deep conditon with it. I used it for a leave in.

Greg Juice- It was ok but it smells musky like a mans cologne. I prefer my Nu Grow Hair moisturizer

Whipped Pudding- This I love, it moisturizes and smells good.

Shine&Define- this is ok its moisturizing, as far as hold...well may be too thin for us thick haired people.

Never Tried Asha's...

I haven't tried any of those, but I have purchased Qhemet Biologic's detangler conditioner and had some success with it as I thought it was the only thing that could detangle my hair until I started detangling my hair under water using VO5 Silky Experiences Smoothing Conditioner and wala! I've also used the Alma & Olive Heavy Cream and found it to be rather moisterizing, but I think I can duplicate it and save some $.

I bought the Oyin HHC and JnB for dd's natural hair. JnB smells pretty good and she seems to like it. I even keep it in my purse when I wear WnG's to use just to cool my hair off when it's really hot out. HHC, I don't care for the smell and it ain't all that as far as conditioning. I do like it as a leave in though. Will I repurchase? H2TMFN, but I'll make sure I use up what I bought! Shipping takes too long for some just okay stuff.

Qhemet Honeybush Tea Gel, LadyKaypnyc, I'll buy offa you if you really don't like it:grin: DD's hair does like that stuff...Her hair seems to like glycerine period (Stay Sof Fro is a staple). I usually use it after AOHC then seal w/JBCO and put a scarf on for a few minutes and VOILA, smooth edges.

I love Hairveda stuff, they're really good for texlax/transitioning hair. These other products, not so much.

I like Asha's Mane Attraction. It gives me some of the best twist outs. I actually like the smell, but it is very strong and it's one of those scents that you will either like it or hate it, there is no in between. I haven't really ordered anything else from her besides that.

As for Oyin, I liked Funk Butter but my skin didn't like it (gave me a rash). But it did keep the funk away and I'm sad that I had that reaction to it, because Secret was about to go by the way side in favor of it. I did like the Whipped Shea (different from the Whipped Pudding) and the Burnt Sugar Pomade - but now I've found a local product at the Home Economist (on South Blvd for those of you that live in Charlotte, lol) that is similar to the pomade for me. I just liked the Whipped Shea because it was a little easier to work with than the unrefined shea butter I was getting from Nasabb.

Qhemet - I liked the olive detangler because I didn't have to wet my hair to use it. But, I haven't repurchased since the last bottle ran out. The hair gel - my hair liked the sample but then when I got the full size and started using it, it didn't seem to have enough hold so I gave it away.

I seem to have my products nailed down as far as moisturizing and styling, so I don't know if I'll be trying any new products any time soon.

This is how I use it, too. I mixed it with the Whipped Pudding and got a fabulously soft fluffy twist out. Qhemet Biologics' Olive Conditioner and Detangler or Burdock Root Butter cream are other favorites. The independent natural lines I don't really use for shampoos, conditioners, prepoos, strengthening treatments. They often do not pack enough punch for those things. But I like them as leave-ins.

Crackers Phinn

Either A Blessing Or A Lesson.
I got the Oyin Burnt Sugar Pomade at a product exchange during a meet up.

It's weird smelling grease.

If your hair does well with grease then I'd just buy cheapo grease instead

Dear Ladies,

I am now back in Africa back to work after being in the States on holidays.

Yes, I must say I jumped partially on some of these natural bandwagons and really spent a lot of money. But like skin care one has to sometimes spend a lot to know what works and what doesn't.

What works for me is Aveda and Qhemet. Nothing else. I don't like the Qhemet shampoo though was not moisturising enough. Love Oyin's unscented funk butter. Qhemet the gel was not all that for me either but the Alma Olive Oil and Olive and Honey Balm are great for my braidouts. I used some of the Carol's Daughter stuff but I am smell sensitive so I was not able to continue to use her line.

Best,
Almond Eyes
