Being Humble Before God

True holiness and humility are inseparable. The nearer the soul comes to God, our Heavenly Father, the more completely it should be humbled and subdued. Take a look at these following Bible characters, and how they reacted when they came before God.
When Job heard the voice of the Lord, he despised himself, compared to the glory and holiness of God ..... Job 42:5-6 .....'I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.'
When Isaiah saw the glory of the Lord, and heard the Cherubim crying, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts, that he cried out in despair thinking he had been destroyed ..... Isaiah 6:1-5 .....'In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.'
Daniel, when he was visited by the holy messenger, saw that his own splendor had been turned into ruin, when He saw the glory of Jesus ..... Daniel 10:5-8 .....'Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves. Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.'
Paul, after the glory of Christ had been revealed to him humbled himself and regarded himself to be the least of all the saints ..... Ephesians 3:8 .....'Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.'
And when John saw the glory of Jesus in a vision, he fell down as if dead ..... Revelation 1:17 .....'And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last.'
We serve a holy God, who is an all consuming fire. Let's come before Him each day with humble hearts. If we were to stand before God in our present state, we would be consumed. We would not be able to bare the sight of His glory and majesty. This is a God that angels bow down to worship, crying holy, holy, holy!! Let me leave you with the image of God that John saw in his vision:
Revelation 4:2-11 .....'And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God. And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever, the four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.'

Beautiful word... Blazing.

Another thing about these people of God, is that they never waivered in their humility. Honouring God was 'fixed' in their hearts, rooted and grounded in their souls. :Rose:

Great reminder for me, Blazing... Luke 22 speaks this. No better example for humility and serving others than Jesus Himself!

19 Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.

20 And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament or covenant [ratified] in My blood, which is shed (poured out) for you.

21 But, behold, the hand of him who [a]is now engaged in betraying Me is with Me on the table.(B)

22 For the Son of Man is going as it has been determined and appointed, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed and delivered up!

23 And they began to inquire among themselves which of them it was who was about to do this.(C)

24 Now an eager contention arose among them [as to] which of them was considered and reputed to be the greatest.

25 But Jesus said to them, The kings of the Gentiles [c]are deified by them and exercise lordship [[d]ruling as emperor-gods] over them; and those in authority over them are called benefactors and well-doers.

26 But this is not to be so with you; on the contrary, let him who is the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who is the chief and leader like one who serves.

27 For who is the greater, the one who reclines at table (the master), or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am in your midst as One Who serves.

28 And you are those who have remained [throughout] and persevered with Me in My trials;

I know it's important to come to Lord humbled like the tax collector and not self-righteous like the pharisee. I honestly feel like a horrible person everyday when I pray, because I always know I messed something up and did something wrong. It's the Holy Spirit working in us letting us know that we are sinners and we need to seek the mercy of The Lord and his salvation.

Please don't feel this way, know before you even ask you are already forgiven, When I pray I try to remember to ask the lord to forgive me for my sin and sins I committed knowingly and sins I committed without my knowledge. I pray this for my family and friends and people I do not know. I know the Lords loves me with an unmatched love and I will never be worthy, I am just dust and God remembers that and so I am not suppose to be perfect, I am striving for perfection. I did read a scripture that we are all perfect in Christ. I will have to go and find it. But please be blessed and know its a journey and every day that you learn something new its called present truth and you act on it that's all. That's all we all can do.
