Black owned BSS that ships Affirm

Hey Ladies,

I found a BSS in my area that ships affirm for anybody who's looking for it.

I went on a hunt today for some Affirm for a fellow LHCF sister who couldn't find it in her area. There's three BSS on this street in my town, I went into the first two and didn't like their selection and went in the third and was surprised that it was black owned and they had a big selection of Affirm.

The owner's name is Miss Mel Hylton and she ships all over the country and Canada too. She said they're working on a website now.

Just thought I'd share this info because I know sistahs search high and low for Affirm. Here's their info

I don't know about Surge, I didn't look or ask, but they probably did. You can call them and ask. What part of CT are you in? I bought my Surge at a BSS in Bloomfield on Blue Hills Ave that's up in the Hartforfd Area.

Thank you Crystal. I was wondering where I could purchase the Affirm relaxer since I was hesitant on buying it from Sheldeez.

Ladies don't blast me for saying this, but I haven't had any problems with Sheldeez. I have been buying from them for over 4 years. I have had the wrong item sent, once. But, he let me keep the wrong item and sent the correct one promptly. My only complaint is the Keracare is overpriced, so I only buy my relaxer "stuff" from there.

i think the reason msot of us dont want to order from sheldeez is b/ they only sell the huge 4 lb tubs of it.i've never tried affirm before so i dont know if i'll like it or what strength will be best so i definitely wouldnt buy a 4 lb tub of it.

When you say Affirm, you mean the relaxer? Does she require a license?

Hi Haleni, I'm a Mizani girl myself so I'm not really familiar with Affirm products so I asked if she had the products that I'd seen you ladies mention on the board.. The relaxer, fiberguard and 5 in 1.

She started pulling out all these relaxers, some were in boxes like kits or something and the others were in regular white tubs small and large. Some of them had a small bottle of solution with them(i'm not sure what that was, I asked was it like the developer for no lye relaxers and she said no but I forgot what she said it was) She also had big bottles of the 5 in 1. She didn't mention a license and I didn't get the impression one was needed.

She had a large line of Keracare. She said it was from the same makers of Affirm, She said Affirm was the professional brand and Keracare was the consumer brand.

She sounded like she could get whatever you needed. Like I said, I'm a mizani girl but she said she didn't carry Mizani because it was a licensed product or something like that.. she said the rep came by all the time but she doesn't carry it.

HTH.

PS I've never used Sheldeez before but I'm sure they're okay also. I was just sharing the info in case someone wanted another option but I"m sure Sheldeez is fine.

I called and spoke to a lady at the BSS. She said she could not quote me any prices over the phone.

Are you serious? See.

I have to go back up there today. I"ll ask her what that's all about and get back with you ladies. She gave me the toll free number specifically because I told her my friend from out of state would be calling to get prices and she said that was fine, that she ships all the way to Nova Scotia.

All I can think of is someone else answered the phone. But still.

I'll see what's going on when I go back up there. I'll get prices and ask what the deal is.

I'll report back tonight.

Hey, I went back up there today to get some Nexxus(they didn't have
) and asked what was up. The owner Miss Mel had the day off. It was her sister you talked to.

They do ship. They don't advertise or have a website or anything so the clientele they ship to they got just through built up relationships. She said Affirm is a licensed product and that's what caused the hesitation over the phone. But they do ship.

I told her that I put their number on a website so they might get a few more calls and she said okay, that won't be a problem just mention that.

Miss Mel said they're working on a website. I think that would be great because they had a lot of really good products and seemed to be willing to get whatever was in demand.

They had six shelves of Dominican Products.. I know a lot of girls use the Miss Key stuff and they had shelves of that and other Dominican Products. So it would be good to see stuff like that on their website.

Anyway I got the prices:

5 in 1 $19.95/16 oz $29.95/32 oz
Relaxer $29.95/ 4lb
Relaxer 4 pack $39.95 9 pack $54.95
Shampoo $9.95

She said they didn't have the 1lb tubs but they'll look into getting them. They carried the 1lb tubs at the asian store across the street though for $12.95

I don't use the Dominican products so I'm not sure what I was looking at but I wrote down the prices for something called Miss Key Black Creme $7.95 and Miss Key Aguacate Avacodo $8.50 And there were other brands I think one was called Henna Queen? and several others.

So just sharing the info. They're a small privately owned black business, I hope they get a website soon because they offered a lot.

Hi Crystal, I ordered the Affirm 4pk and was charged $49.95 before taxes. I was wondering if the $39.95 quote that you got was for Affirm or another brand of relaxer.

I spoke to Mel today. She said that the price I was given was because she had to get the relaxer from another supplier since her regular supplier didnt have the moisture plus cond version in stock. The price is $39.95 from her regular supplier(they are out of stock right now).

Still sounds suspect. Hope it all works out.

You live in NYC, they don't sell Affirm in the BSS in Queens? I know if they sell it here in CT you could find it somewhere in the big apple.
