Even vs. Uneven Hair

Someone told me that since my hair was not even, It will split so therefore I need all my hair to be even. Is this tue? Should I let her cut my hair to one length? My hair was cut several years ago into layers and it has not grown out those layers. Ladies, what should I do. My hair looks perfectly fine to me!!

That's not true. My hair has never been 1 length, and my hair is strong and doesn't break or split.

My stylist said that all of his customers' hair grows out uneven. It will only stay even if it's trimmed regularly.

My hair was really uneven. Maybe that’s why the left was stuck at mid back, and the right was stuck at waist length. My stylist finally trimmed it (evened it out) trimmed off about four inches. Now it’s at bra clasp, but I’m very happy with the blunt ends. I know it won't stay that way, because after three months it's getting uneven again.
