Foam Roller Sets on Natural Hair?!?

Hello,
I've been natural for a year and 2 months :drunk: And I've been having my hair in braids/kinky twists/box braids etc, since :perplexed. I want to stop putting tension on my edges and I plan on just rollersetting my hair (with no heat) , and just put my hair in a loose bun, until my hair grows to a desired length. My hair in the front is up to the end of my nose. The hair in my sides are up to my neck, and the hair in the back is down to collarbone. I wanted to use curlformers, but they are WAAAAY too expensive :cry2:, and I am a college student, so dats a :nono: Just today I remembered that I have Conair 48pcs foam roller sets from a looong time ago, and I was wondering:

1.) Do you think I can use a foam roller set on my natural wet hair, using NO heat, and still get that "stretched" loose curl that curlformers gives?

2.) Is there any alternative hair roller set I can use to help stretch my natural hair like curlformers? (that is waaay less expensive) Thanks! :look:

I'm quite sure you could. You could even do a regular rollerset if you wanted. My siggy is the result of a rollerset and wrap

Rocky91 has way more experience than I when it comes to flexi-rod sets

Here's a couple of threads on the subject:
