HEYYY! I'm a newbie and curious about my hair type. The below pictures are damp hair no products. I am natural but relaaxed in the past.

It looks like 4a with a mix of 3c to me. Thats my hair type. I would say its completely 3c but when 3c is wet its usually close to looking straight with waves. You still have tighter curls so I'd say 3c/4a.

I had my type confirmed not too long ago too. :)

Thanks all, I didn't know because I read 4as have really tight coils and 3cs have looser curls. Im kinda a mix.

Do you have any fully dry hair pics? I don't know how you all can type damp hair, my hair looks like a totally different texture when it's wet/damp.

Agreed.

I think my hair is a 3 something and it's definitely looser than the OP's hair, it's only slight waves when wet/damp.

The easiest way to type hair is when it's dry, with zero product IMO...

I agree with the op, yr hair should be dry and completely unmanipulated to get an accurate type meaning not dried and bunned then taken down bc when it's manipulated like in a bun or braided for instance it's stretched which makes it hard to determine it in it's natural state.

PAgirl Hair typing is confusing, even those of use that have been here for years are still confused by it lol so don't get discouraged. To accurately type you we need to see your hair after you wash it, let it air dry un-manipulated. If you braid it or bun it that stretches out the curls so it's not your natural curl pattern. Also it it's wet/damp the water weighs the hair down so it stretches out the curls a lot. My hair is a mixture of 3b/c and when it's wet it would look like a type 2 but it's far from that when dry.

I still think PAgirl's hair is in the type 3 range.

When my hair is wet, it is no where near type 3. Wet and dry unmanipulated, my hair is still 4a/b.

Yeah, I woulda said 3 too but when 3 hair is wet it usually looks like a 2. Like Taren916 or CurlyCrazyfulLeah on YT, when their hair's wet it's almost straight.

But I'm 3c/4a (more 4a than 3c really) and when my hair's wet it looks more 3c-ish. The curls are elongated and very defined. That's what the OP's hair looked like in the first few pics.

I still think we need to see some better pics to get a better idea. :yep:

I'm starting to think maybe I'm 4B/C then. I've seen a lot of naturals here lately with loose curl pattern claiming 4A. I thought 4A was really tight pen spring size coils like this:

To me, I agree that CurlyCrazyfulLeah has Type 3 hair... however, I think Taren916 has Type 2 hair (maybe 2C/3A).
