I notice a lot of breakage and I think I may try aphogee 2 step .
I don't really do Hard protein because my hair rarely needs it because it wasn't breaking before.

I apply green tea from aphogee on it stops the breakage for a short period.

I haven't had a hard protein in ....several months.
Also, My hair is mushy while wet.

My moisture levels are great.
The only protein I use are in my deep conditioner from ORS and the green tea and aloe vera juice.
Those are not hard proteins but those are proteins.

When I was relaxed I did a hard protein once a month. I used Nexxus Emergencee (I still use it occasionally).

When I used to use hard protein it would be 1x/6-8 weeks. Now I use conditioners with protein in them (usually in the first 5 ingredients) whenever I feel like I have excess breakage – basically at random.

There is no board.
I use a reconstructor immediately after a touch up with Ion reconstructor (it's vegan so I guess it's not hard). After that I use it every week until I feel my hair has enough strength. Over time I assess based on how my hair feels.

When the hair is mushy that's moisture overload and that can contribute to breakage as well. I use the 2step every other month as needed, but usually once every 2-3 months since I have color now. I am not relaxed though. Hth

I'm relaxed and for a long time I thought protein ON my hair was what was needed. But it wasn't. What I learned was I needed the protein in my diet. I started doing protein shakes after my workouts and noticed the difference. I started having a protein shake daily whether I worked out or not. It changed everything for me. I condition wash daily and apply a small amount of leave in conditioner followed by coconut oil. This regimen has changed EVERYTHING for me. No breakage at all. Protein in my body was what I needed. Heavy protein on my hair just made things worse. It took me a while but I finally got it right. Try it. See what happens.

Never hard, always medium to mild -- If I have breakage, I'll use a medium protein weekly until the breakage stops. If just doing maintenance, I'll use a milder protein at whatever interval my hair desires. Hard proteins over protein treat my hair.
