Has anyone kept up with MacherieAmour?

Here's my issue with her--

She seems like a lovely, bright young women, but, to my knowledge she has NEVER posted early pix of herself with her short, "unhealthy" hair. IMO, doing this is critical if you want anyone to take you seriously as a haircare guru who has transformed her hair.

She simply has NO long term visual history. I NEED to see that before I'd even consider joining her site.

No one has posted anything about her site recently. Any joiners???

She use to be a member here and she had things on youtube but I believe once the started her site for profit many here do not followed her much anymore.

No offense to her but much of the information she has for growth, health and maintenance you can get here.

I believe her site was gearing towards having discussions, commentaries and guest speakers as well as healthy hair.

I'm not on her site but I don't think she has to have had short unhealthy hair to be a haircare guru. I mean what if she's always had great hair it seems as if she's maintaining it well so that should count for something right.

I'm not on her site cause last time I checked her site it was too expensive for my blood.

Or is she claiming to have transformed her hair from damaged/unhealthy to what it is now? I can understand the need for "evidence" if that is the case and people are considering joining her site just based off of those claims.

I agree...

And I will also add that when she was posting here she was one of the most helpful, nicest, honest people on the board. I did not join her site because I can't afford to spend that kind of money on a hair board. But I do wish her much success with folks who can afford it.

I miss her advice! She is so sweet and very ambitious. But I guess...at the end of the day you got to respect her hustle. Tis' tough times---and no body can wait on the government to get out of this recession. I guess I took her LHCF big mama presence for granted. But I have seriously considered subscribing to her website out of curiosity. I have been a fan of the site since the beginning. But the prices are definitely no LHCF prices...they are steep. :/

I don't think she just really had damaged, unhealthy hair. If I remember correctly--she had always had salon-treated hair and then became inspired to take care of her own hair and experienced greater growth and retention. But I have never seen her in pics shorter than shoulder length?

healthytextures.com ......if i remember..the basic package was $30 bucks and that was for 3 months i think? dont quote me.

I love her advice, it has helped me a great deal. I have her as a friend on FB and I also read her articles on blackvoices.com, I'm also subscribed to her channel on youtube.

I don't need evidence that her hair was once short, I didn't need here to have started with damaged hair for me to take her seriously. The fact that she was able to maintain her length was what really drew me to her and how healthy her hair looked. I am a subscriber on youtube and I enjoy her videos. Main reason I am not a paying member of Healthy Textures is because I am not sure it'll have the variety I need right now.

Here we have transitioners (like me!), relaxed (who I still learn a lot for because what they do while stretching relaxers still apply to me), naturals (where I'm headed) and so much more. I lurked here for a year and a half before I joined, I finally did because I felt this site had what I needed.

I was a member of her site when it was still free but always found myself coming back to the hair boards. I haven't been able to keep up with her since it became a paying site because there's almost nothing for non-payers to look at before they make a decision whether they want to pay or not.

I dont think she ever had unhealthy hair but I could be wrong. Even some of the women on this board have never had short, damaged hair. But I see what you're saying OP. When I see someone who went from thin broken hair to healthy thick hair, it's very inspiring to me.

I havent kept up with her though.

if i remember correctly on her fotki she had pics of her from back in the day when she had a pixie cut a la halle berry, but that's all i can remember. i like macherieamour she was always so helpful and positive i'm not on her site because i don't want to pay but i still think she's a great hair person

Oh h3!!z no! I cant see myself paying that much for a HAIR forum. Not in these tough economic times. Sorry!:nono:

I am more than happy with my good ol' L.H.C.F.

Much love to her and her hustle though:yep:

As others have stated, everyone doesn't start with damaged hair and a lot of people don't think to take "starting" pics at the beginning of their journey.

While I agree that all the information she has could be found here, I recognize that she is providing a specific product. For people who don't want to search through thousands of posts (like some members here :look: ) and want someone to kind of hold their hand throughout the process, it's a great site. It all depends on what you're looking for.

I love Marcherieamour, and will always give her credit for being my first hair inspiration model. I stumbled across one of her youtube videos in late 2007, and because of her, I decided to go on my own hair journey. Her smarts, wisdom, and knowledge of hair still reigns supreme. She is a great communicator when it comes to sharing her knowledge in a professional way. For me, seeing a picture of her with shorter hair was not that important. I was inspired by her ability to grow her hair to such lengths, and maintain it for more than 15 years. When I saw her unravel her beautiful head of wrapped hair in her silk wrap video, I was hooked. She knows her stuff, conveys it well, and I miss her being around.

I tried a three month membership to her website. I enjoyed it for a minute. Easy access to articles. I felt I could get similar information on this site for less money. I think well of MacherieAmour (Jenny).

Agreed.... she is a doll.... I just won't pay 100 bucks a year for any website.....:yep:

You mean, much of her information CAME from here.

I have seen several of her videos on youtube and thought they were helpful. I dont think need another webite besides here.

I doubt she would have a picture. Due to the fact that, I remember her story being that she had unhealthy hair back when she was 12 years old from chlorine from swimming everyday. As someone else said, she always went to the salon since then and was frequenting the Internet for hair care since her teenage years.

Machierarmour turned her hobby into a profession.

I am a member of both boards and I think healthytextures.com is striving to be more than an online hair board, which is not to diminish other boards. Perhaps I'm not aware of this or other boards that offer these features but she does regular video techniques, just recently completed a course on air drying techniques complete with instructional video, "study guides" etc, she has scheduled audio interviews with industry experts including one upcoming with the president of Avlon (I might be wrong on that but a key industry leader). I admire her entrepreneurship (woo sp?) and am willing to pay. Each person has to make her own assessment of what such information and experiences are worth. Also, I see it as helping a younger sister get a business going so the blessing will come back to me anyway.:yep:

I also get a lot of good information from this board, each community has its own personality and flavor.

I did notice that she doesn't have any early pics of her hair. But she has really good advice, I used to g oto her site and even ordered her rollerset tutorial. Once I noticed she changed her site to a paide membership that is more than LHCF I stopped following becuase I get all the advice and help I need from here. LHCF is more of a neccessity to me than her site at this point in my journey.

You mean, much of her information CAME from here.

Thank You. I am turned off my folks who gather info from here and other (free to lurk) hair boards and then charge what I believe are unreasonable prices for the same info.

Traycee has her own site and I think a personal consult is 5 bucks. She make a ton of tutorials which are available free via youtube.

Macherie is a hair board celebrity and there are fans who will follow and pay the prices, hence the continued existance of her site.

I think you may be talking about Sylver.
