Hey Y'all...How do you get that old lady set...

What I mean is the type of set that once it is brushed out it leaves hair in that beautiful bouncy, wavy/curly shape. I tried to do it this morning but my hair looks like a poofball. I call it an "old lady set" because I always see those sharp older women wearing it. It's not really a "young" style. Any suggestions?

My mom gets that set by wet setting and air drying thoroughly (usually all day or overnight). When she takes the rollers down she applies a heavy grease (a dime size amount) in her palms and runs through her hair. Then she brushes and the curls are set. She uses a bonnet at night and her bouncy curls last about a week. I think the main thing is to make sure it is completely dry before taking the rollers down.
