How Do You Avoid Dry, Frizzy Ends After Using Flexi Rods?

Everytime I've used flexi rods or those satin rollers as an easy method to keep my curls after a roller set, my ends come out crinkly/dry in some areas. The curls last long but my ends always get so dried out. I have watched so many tutorials and I made sure the ends rolled smooth around the roller but it doesn't help.

Anyone else have this problem with flexi rods/bendy rollers and satin rollers? Are there any tips to avoid the dried out ends. Pin curls do not work for my fine hair to keep the curls. Regular hard rollers work to keep the curls but they hurt my head during sleep. Any tips or suggestions?

Have you tried using end papers?

End papers and a light oil on the ends. Make sure the ends are flat against the roller.
