How Often Do You Shampoo Your Hair?

Normally I wash my hair once a week. I use Motions Lavish Conditioning Shampoo. Now I am trying to stretch it to twice a week. My scalp and get a little flakey, so to combat that I have been applying Wild Growth Oil to my scalp. It seems to be working.

I do not cowash my hair. I discovered very early on that my scalp cannot tolerate being cowashed. It has to have a strong cleanser whether that be shampoo or shikakai powder.

I shampoo my locs once a week but I'll probably increase to 2-3 times a week because i plan to start working out soon.

I shampoo my hair every other wash and I wash once a week. On the weeks I don't shampoo I cowash.

I co-cleanse 3 weeks out of the month and then clarify 1 week out of the month.

I've thought about shampooing weekly with a sulfate free shampoo because I like how my hair feels when I shampoo over when I co-cleanse.

Thanks @divachyk for explaining the difference between co-cleanse and co-wash.

I shampoo once per week with diluted sulfate free shampoo. I cowash once per week with different cleaning conditioners such as As I am Coconut Cowash or Claudie's 3in1. My hair loves a mid-week pick-me-up.

With shampoo? Is anyone washing more than once a week? Please do tell.

Frequent washers: are there any benefits for your hair and scalp?

Right now I am washing once a week, but my scalp is begging me to increase that to twice a week.

I wash twice a week, I have a very fussy scalp that loves to be clean.
under microscope I have seen major improvement regarding the state of my scalp, and also exfoliating once a week has helped a lot.

I shampoo every other week and cowash on the opposite weeks. I clarify every other shampoo week, or once every four weeks.

Shampoo every other wash.
I wash every week to week and a half.

I shampoo weekly with sulphate-free CoN argon oil, then also clarify every three weeks or so. I've tried cowashing a couple of times but haven't really got on with it - my hair either just doesn't like it or I haven't found the right conditioner for it yet. I don't seem to be having any problems with the shampoo though.

I shampoo at least once a week though I try to shoot for twice a week. I'm currently using Shea Moisture Tahitian Noni shampoo. I wear wigs daily and sometimes sweat a lot under them, so shampooing helps keep my scalp clean and moisturized.

I wash usually 2x a week… with shea moisture shampoo especially with my new growth misbehaving. I have been doing braid outs and buns for staying. sometimes i will cowash 1x a week with conditioner to make my hair softer. I just can't go a long time without washing my hair, my scalp becomes flaky if I go longer than 1 week plus my hair ends up looking too greasy if I wait too long.

every weekend. If I'm lazy or depressed I go every 2 weeks.
There was a member on a Facebook group that asked this question and said she washes once every 3 or 5 months. I didn't say anything but others went IN.

I have decided to shampoo twice a week. My scalp is too oily for cowashes...

Cream of Nature Argan oil is my favorite shampoo right now. I also like Keracare detangling and Kerastase shampoos.

@meka72 @11228, you're welcome ladies. I consider HairVeda Creamy Hair Cleanser a co-cleanser because it's creamy like conditioner but can lift some (not all) product from the hair. It won't, however, cleanse your hair as good as say a shampoo but it gets the job done without stripping the hair. Something like Tresemme Naturals would be a co-wash.

Can I skip the condtioner step with these products? I do with my current cowash products. They are straight up conditioners.

I was love to wash once a week but my detangling issues would render me bald. Recently, I tried Julien Farel Hydate Restore and I'm cautiously optimistic, although the jury is still out. Anyone tried this?

I sometimes miss poo'ing my hair 2x/week. When I was relaxed I'd wash about every 4 days or so... I just remember that I rarely went a full 7 days. But it was easier then, I'd lightly poo mid week while I shower, slap in some conditioner, comb through and then pull it back. I can't really do that now. It will take much more time even if I'm in the shower. The process is just longer. My hair just feels better when it's clean. As the days go by I can feel the product on my hair even though I don't really use heavy products at all -- at least compared to most naturals. Shampooing and conditioning my hair just feels like a hair reset lol. Last night I was so tempted to wash and condition but then I thought of the process and was like ummm, no thanks! Lol.
