Genesis 1:12
The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

Genesis 2:5
and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth [a] and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth [b] and there was no man to work the ground

How could there be vegetation in the creation, but then after, there was none?
Am I missing something? Can you help me out here please ladies?

He planted it but didn't water it therefore it didn't grow lol. It was there just hadn't sprouted yet.

Genesis Chapter 1 is the creation of the earth for those 6 days (7th He rested). Chapter 2 starts out saying "the earth was completed...". It then is not a continuation - don't think of it as being chronological. It's a recount... verse 4 starts out saying "this is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created." Check the past tense of that. Chapter 2 is a detail account or rather the "breakdown" of the creation of earth.

So in summary, see Chapter 1 as the introduction at the beginning of a paper and then the rest of the paper in the body, you have to explain the introduction.

You have to read it in context. Reading half a sentence can be confusing:

Chapter 2 verses 4-7 are a summary of the creation...

This is the history[a] of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens, 5 before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the LORD God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; 6 but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Moses is summarizing what has just occurred.

The next verse picks up at the garden. In the garden God forms a single one of each of the animals he had already created, this time from the ground, and brought them to Adam to name. Hope that helps!:)
