Is it possible to transition with a texturizer?

I was thinking about this because I am now at the uncomfortable stage where my new growth and older relaxed hair is getting really tangled. My hair is growing fast with the Surge and MSM combo I've been doing, I've gotten about 2 inches since I stopped relaxing in Mid november. My new hair is so thick that I don't know if I will be able to handle it when I am all natural. SO has anyone used a texturizer in the transition process. If so, please let me know how it went. If not how does everyone manage new growth when the textures are so differnt?
