It's a broke *** college student's DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So this morning, my aunt came to my dorm room with the most BEAUTIFUL, LUSCIOUS, SHINIEST hair I'd ever seen her with in my life! She's always had beautiful, HEALTHY hair, but today it looked WONDERFUL! I asked her did she JUST come from the shop, and she said it had been a WEEK since she went...mind you, I'm in my shower cap dc'ing and just jealous. She said she recently started going to Douglas J, the Aveda Institute right on the border of campus. And she pulled out a Gift Certificate for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've got a nine o'clock appointment for my hair and a massage and facial!!!!!!

I love this lady so much!!!!!!!

Wow!!! Lucky you. I went there for an eyebrow waxing a few weeks ago and was thinking of getting a spa treatment (the works), but it's just too expensive for me right now. Maybe I can get lucky someday and get SO to give it to me as a b-day gift Be sure to let us know how it turns out!!!

Sorry i replied so late ladies, but I've been having one of those weeks!

My salon visit was HEAVENLY!!!!!! I walked in, they took my info, got me some juice and a bagel and five minutes later I was on a table naked with this FIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINE white boy touching my body, lol!!!!!

I had a Caribbean Therapy Body Treatment (i bolded it so EVERYONE will get one!!) It was so relaxing...it smely like the ocean with fruit!!!!!! I've never felt that great in my LIFE!!! I got a scalp massage and a face massage with the facial. it was just spectacular!

Then it came time for the hair. It took me forever to get dressed because i was just soooooooo relaxed!!! This girl Letoya took such good care of me. i got ANOTHER scalp massage (my scalp loved me tuesday) and a good wash and dc. Then she gave me one of the BEST presses i've EVER had in my LIFE!!!!!!! It was silky, it was smooth, it was bouncy, it was SWANGIN, it was the shiznit and a half!!!!!!!! I think i love her lol!!!! After she was done, she put ALL the products she used on me (Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo and Conditioner, Brilliant Emollient Finishing Gloss and Brilliant Damage Control) in a bag and said these are a gift from your aunt. (did i mention how much I LOVE her?!?!?!?! After i was done, she touched up my make up and sent me on my merry little way.

I give this experience 18 thumbs UP!!!!!!! Like literally, I am SOLD on the Aveda Institute. Like this will be my OTHER stylist (can't leave the one at home alone...he does all the things i need him to and MORE).

MzSouthVA--girl, we got into it so bad, she MOVED OUT!!!! can you say single?!?!!? I was like...oh well. she just left with no warning, lol.

Mook's hair--yup, all natural. I don't think i'm doing anything RIGHT (i love heat...all the time.) but i am a firm believer that hair can be TRAINED!!! I've been gettin my hair pressed since i was 4. sounds bad, but it works for me. my hair can withstand heat whereas a lot of people can't!

There are AI's all over the country but here's the info for chicago and a few pages where you can look at reviews and decide if you want an appointment. I hated the AI in Lansing MI, also a Douglas J salon, but loved my experience at the one in DC. I think it just depends on who they have as students and how invested the instructors are in teaching them what they should know about how to treat people. Even Aveda's wonderful products can't make up for a bad attitude or lacking skills. Env10us obviously had a great staff! I'm jealous too!!

There's an Aveda Salon right near North and Clybourn. I may have to go there myself
