What is the Wash & Wear Relaxer System?
The Wash & Wear Relaxer™ is a technique of working with your hair's own natural texture using our curl releasing agent to give a more desired texture. Another benefit as well is it adds more softness and manageability in the hair. When you have Wash & Wear Relaxed hair, it offers you the versatility of wearing straight styles, by being able to wet-set or blow drying your hair as often as you choose, or the opportunity of having as we say, wash and go no fuss hair. We accomplish this by using precise section timing and some very unique, some might say revolutionary "off the scalp" application methods we have developed. We have proven over the years using these methods is the safest way to relax hair. Our goal is to take your hair to its optimum curl release point, which varies from person to person. The Wash & Wear Relaxer allows you to wear your hair in smooth styles or in a more semi-natural look, being able to not spend a great deal of time blow-drying and curling, the freedom from being worried about what the weather is going to be like, in case your hair became wet. The ability to wake up in the morning to spend 5 minutes on their hair, and go.
We have found that hair of African descent and super curly hair types tend to break more easily when taken to "bone straight", which has been the traditional way to do relaxers for many years. Part of what we found that causes problems with breakage is that when your hair is taken to a "bone straight" state, you are actually removing most of the hair's vital elasticity and strength. By taking the hair to a more natural Wash & Wear state, we have found that people who formerly did not think their hair grew; now find their hair is much longer, in superb condition, and has more body and shine and most importantly, strength.

For years they have been asking, "What is best for my hair?", "Why does my hair break?", "Why doesn’t my hair grow?", "Why is my hair so brittle and dry?" and "Why does my scalp get burned when a relaxer is applied to my hair? We at Kerasoft are hair obsessed and were determined to find the answers to those age-old questions. Our initial breakthrough was to developing our unique "off the scalp" relaxer technique, to help prevent scalp burning and irritation. Next, we discovered that if we left more natural texture in the hair by not taking it bone straight, the problems with hair breakage that at times occurred with relaxers seemed to stop.
What We Knew:
The foundation of any great looking hairstyle is healthy hair. For any hair type to be healthy, it is essential that its moisture balance must be maintained. Importantly, the hair cuticle needs to be sealed to protect against dryness and pollutants. Getting moisture into the hair and then sealing it is particularly challenging for Black hair because of its many, cuticle layers. In addition, Black hair fibers are usually shorter and are more elliptical in cross section. This can cause the hair to tangle, knot and break more easily than other hair texture types. Abrasion and wear at the point of curvature can also lead to cuticle loss and weak spots. Because of its very structure, Black hair is prone to excessive dryness and breakage.
Maintaining the health and beauty of Afro-textured hair can sometimes be both daunting and challenging. Afro-textured hair has a higher cuticle, the scales that coat each hair shaft, to cortex ratio than any other hair type. Black hair also often breaks because of being over-processed during chemical servicing such as relaxers and colour treatments. It also tends to become hard, dry and brittle as a result of the improper usage of blow dryers and curling irons. It is almost impossible for Afro-hair to reach its real growth potential and be healthy when it is over-processed and abused. In the our research we discovered that over 95% of shampoos had the cleansing agent sodium laurel sulfate or its derivatives, which strip the hair of its natural oils, is very drying to relaxed hair, and really are not designed for Black hair. Surprisingly as well, a great many ethnic hair care products found on the market today are wax or petroleum-based, which adds excess cosmetic weight to the hair, interferes with chemical services done to the hair, and hampers the ability of the hair to absorb and replenish lost moisture. Without a proper moisture balance in the hair, it becomes brittle and dry which results in breakage. Only water is moisture, oil is not.
