Maybe Im just not a braid person...

I will have these braids in 3 weeks on Saturday and Im ready for them to come out.

1. My scalp is flaking really badly in front and its embarrassing. I've tried ACV and it itched the next day.
2. I wanted twists and couldn't get them because of all the hair I have. Even individuals are down to my lower back.
3. Im considering doing a style with braids and my own hair....maybe it has something to do with the hair.

Am I in the minority?

Maybe you need to let the hair soak in a little bit of vinegar and water so it won't itch as bad. Also, don't put too much oil on your scalp.;)

I agree that you should oil your scalp. Unlike buns, or even wearing your hair down, individuals exposed your scalp to air (which is drying).

I agree with the above advice, I use to have big problems with scalp build-up while in braids and these things helped a lot. It definitely makes a big difference for me when I clean the hair in vinegar and water before I put the braids in. ACV rinses help tremendously, as well as dumping CON shampoo (terrible for braids with me)! I don't usually put anything on my scalp at all.

I just looked in your album, and your hair is actually a little longer than my hair when I wore braids/twists w/o extensions. It doesn't seem to be much thicker than mine, so I believe a good natural hair specialist would be able to create a good style for you. Even until this day when people see pictures of my natural hair in twists and braids w/o extensions, I receive compliments. Try finding a stylist who is not afraid to work with your own hair if you are seriously considering Option #3.

girl you are not the only one - I cannot wear braids longer than 3 weeks, The itch is unbearable andI scratch until I'm sore.

It's just not for me although I will get it but I have to take it out in @ 3 weeks. To me that's a waste of money and I haven't had braids in 2 years because of that. But girl I would love love love to do braids with my own hair. I think that's a great idea actually.

I just purchased Profectiv Growth Repair Anti-Itch Strengthening OIL FREE Serum. I have not braided my hair yet so I don't know if it works. I just wanted to be prepared when I do my braids.
