My Sister's story..Marriage & Pregnancy for Middle-aged &/or past 40

for single marriage minded sisters
mid-aged and those nearing 40 or over

Hoping this will be of inspiratation

My sister thought she would never get married...she was looking
at condos and coops in Northen California looking to invest with her 401K
and negotiating with our brother to share a residence and
co-pay with her as co-owner.

She was in effect setting herself up..her future
in retirement from the idea of a married life and
my brother told me he was worried about her
~and that she'd approached with the idea of co-buying a coop

this is what she told me,also...and that she'd dated the men
who were not good for her and the relationships were unsatisfactory
she'd given up...there a guy at church she was seeing
but that was it

She got pregnant..by 'accident' at age 40..
She looked at age 40...like she was late 20's ...in sweat pants and t-shirt
was past the first trimester..barely showing when she showed a picture
of the baby in utero via songram to me when I was visiting
The man she'd been seeing at church asked her to marry him right away
..but my sister ...put it off and put it off...
acted like she had all the time in the world..just blithely went about her business
(my mother was beside herself as my sister's belly grew every week)
I was (unfortunately) privy to ALL her feelings on the subject
which she vocalized daily on everything from the delayed wedding to the soon to be
son-in-law...Lord..I heard it ALL..... ad nauseum erplexed

Anyways my sis finally agreed to marry him...she told me
he'd insisted time and again he was going to ask her anyway...
and that the baby was not the only reason ..she told me she finally believed him
..I had my doubts..and my brothers dint like him ..but I think that was male protective
stuff cas when I met him ..he seemed likable intelligent articulate responsible,honest
...and he is ..though I told him ..along with my cousins and my brothers..who told him too
my sister had one time to shed a single tear over him
and we'd be there to kick
his hide..
my sister was ..like..why'd you say that .....

Welll...my sis got married nearly six months pregnant!
She was showing in her white wedding dress..and gave birth
for the first time at 41 to a healthy beautiful baby girl with a head full of hair,
that was smiling/laughing minutes after being lifted out of the womb~~~~

She went on to have two more(boys) naturally..
no in vitro or anything..the last child was born when she was 45...
she wants two more ....her ob gyn told her...she could keep going
into her 50's

She's a stay at home mommy..her husband provides for all of them
..they are a typical California suburban family
her life... COMPLETELY different than what she thought it was going to be.
It is a very very happy family..her husband adores her....she's close to
her in laws..the kids are noisy happy smart
She is in her element! in the nucleus of homelife
and a mature Christian wife and mom

ps all three children are BRIGHT exceptionally so...and gor-ge-ous..
especially the middle son
I'm not saying that cas I'm their aunt.. lol

I didn't think about the age factor at all..or her story
but now..I see that is helpful to realize
It happened to her....
God gifted her beyond her dreams

It can happen

you know...it was a "scandal" for my mother..I'm sure there were judgements
but God really really had plans for her

my sister had a Saul/Paul transformation awakening
she changed from a smart mouth talking..easy to pick a fight tomboy
to a deeply spiritual woman and responsive wife and mother

one of the most transformative changes
was her marriage..and the birth of her children...and being
the female head of her Christian family

I remembered when no one was looking
her husband sitting in a chair in front of his son on a high chair
and gently quietly folded his hands over the little one's hands
folding his little hands into prayer as he whispered a simple prayer..
just between them...to teach him how to pray..
the baby was not even two
so so sweet....

yes..God truly blessed her..yes Praise Him
and He can and will bless us

thank you all... I truly truly hope it inspires us....who aspire to marry
I keep forgetting there is marriage wish that came true in my own
back yard

lol..I have one married-sister horror story...

when I was on tour a few years ago I was doing a reading at bookstore
my sis and her husband picked me up at there to take me to
a second reading signing at Barnes and Nobles
in a San Francisco shopping mall...
as their SUV-like car...pulled up..my sister hopped out of the car
to hug me and her husband followed to put my guitar in the trunk
and I noticed she was wearing
very tailored blue jeans with those white threaded appliques and I use
the word loosely...anyway those threaded things on the back pocket
and she was also wearing thick soled white tennis shoes,
a conservative dark blue sweatshirt and a red baseball cap!erplexed

Her husband just happened to also be wearing tailored blue jeans with white things on the back pockets,white sneakers,dark blue sweatshirt and red baseball cap..

I blinked but it was true and I thought as we got into
the car enroute to the mall....oh my goodness
what an unfortunate coincidence..somebody wasn't paying attention

until my sister bounced around happily in the front seat
and twisted back to say to me ...seated in the back
along with the kids in their car seats...

"Didja notice??????" We have same outfits I picked them out!!

All I could say was...hmmmm..but inside I was like
OH..NO!!! she did that.....ON PURPOSE!..

complete with matching his & her Saturday-going-to-the-mall-with-the-kids-outfits...
