Need Chemist Advice!!!: Guanidine

If guanidine is an alkali, do you have to neutralize it? If combined with sodium hydroxide, I know it needs to be neutralized with a specific compound (dunno yet which that is in those shampoos). But if sodium guanidine is mixed with sodium carbonate, must it also be neutralized with a neutralizing shampoo? I'm experimenting on kinky weave hair samples, trying to figure out these new "relaxers" that do not use any type of caustic lye (sodium, lithium or calcium). Bodiphier, Thermoceutical, Willie Morrow, Natralaxr, Hair Church salt-based etc.

Do you have any clue what "alkaline water" is? It's listed as a first ingredient, then sea salt, then sodium carbonate. I think they're using guanidine solution. Any ideas? I don't quite believe the hype about them.
