So I know long before I joined this site, someone posted a thread about how Rachel Ray uses Nivea Creme to tame flyaways.... But for all the newbies or ppl who hate the search function let me tell you this Nivea creme is amazing!

So my hair was super dry, nappy.... I am a million years post :lachen:(okay more like 3 months... maybe? I don't count...:ohwell:) anyway.. lately the only way I can even feel my scalp is when I condition my hair in the shower, but tonight I really wanted to comb out my hair and moisturize it since I have been neglecting it and it felt like straw. So I could barely part my hair it's so thick with new growth, but I parted my hair with my fingers, slathered on Nivea Creme as if it were a relaxer... I put it on the new growth only and smoothed with my hands... I did my whole head, and put some on my edges... Then I took my large plastic shower comb and parted my hair in small sections and started to detangle.

OMG can I tell you the naps just melted away!??!?! This was as if I had a relaxer... No hairs broke whilst combing, but I got a lotta shed hair. (Nivea creme is so thick, it can't help but pull out some hairs ready to shed. I swear when I rub in on my skin the top layer comes off!) Anyway... so I detangled then I was able to use my knock off denman brush!

Now let me tell you this was such an accomplishment considering for this whole week I have only brushed over my hair since the jungle I was rocking on my head was to dangerous to tame. But Now my hair is so smooth and detangled I could run a small tooth comb through it!

I know everyone is on a NO mineral oil kick, but NIVEA Creme is a must for women stretching or transitioning! And to seal the deal I put a little put a little bit of the cream on ends and bunned it.

Warning: This is not for ladies who want that hair to swing! This will slick back your hair like no other....

I am even more in love with Nivea....

I already use the creme for everthing from chapped lips to stretch marks....Great for the face! Its not an every day moistrizer b/c it is thick and greasy... but every one in a while my face needs a nice coat. I believe Nivea Creme is the holy grail of cheap drug store brands... Its on par with La Mer creme (same basic base--- especially if u can get the German marketed Nivea rather than the North America)

I never would have thought of this, I wonder if it will work for me for my edges for buns and ponytails. I've just been living with my frizz and curls popping up.

Thanks I will check this out. I like my regimen but am open to exploring new stuff 'cos one never knows! I already have Nivea creme as I really love the Nivea range; I also have the European versison since I live in UK.
Anyhow whats your hair type if you do not mind my asking? You said nappy - but that is a broad description..

Nappy= 4b along the edges and nape of neck and 3b 4a in the crown

Not the hair... the all purpose cold creme... usually u put it on ur face or hands. sorta the conistency of Crisco....

Heck I bet Crisco would work! When my mom had super dry cracked skin that would bleed her dermatologist said unused Criso in the can worked amazingly for her severe condition.... Cheaper and more effective than the perscription creams....

and don't laugh at Crisco in the hair... y'all put vaggy cream in the hair... but I can't lie and say I didn't put some monisat on my head...

Thats an old new growth picture from the past.... But uhhh I dont have pre-nivea pictures. I didn't take a picture of myself looking a hot tail mess! But next time for you ladies I will... but waking up this morning the hair is still nice and soft and smooth! But I did the Nivea creme relaxer at like 3 am in the morning... i was not thinking about pictures. hha

ANYWAY DRY feels like straw...there was zero slip in my hair... sorta felt like a brillo pad as far as the new growth went and straw with the relaxed ends

    [IMG][IMG]

You can find this at wal mart... and drug stores....it either comes in a blue metal tin or a glass blue jar

    I have two sizes...

Thanks for posting this, I used to use this when I was on those ROTC trips in college, we were limited in what we could take and Nivea is all purpose I would put it in my hair and put it in two french braids. Hmm I may need to make a trip to walmart this weekend.

I have the one made in Mexico and it's good by me :yep:. But from what i've read online the ingredients between the North American creme are a little bit different than the European ones. The one from Germany is supposed to be the closest to the La Mer Creme.

Here's the website that has a list of ingredients as compared to La Mer

    http://15minbeauty.blogspot.com/2008/03/nivea-creme-review-and-comparison-to-la.html

Another Bloggers comparison of the Mexican versus German

Use very sparingly.... emulsify it so its not as thick (i.e. rub your hands together as fast as possible to warm up the product so it's not such a thick paste) Maybe even microwave it? I have yet to microwave it, but I think I will try it to make it less of a paste. But um I say once u get it to a workable consistency apply it to your new growth lightly. The creme is great for defining curls... I've noticed from my hair... it weighs down the hell outta relax hair, but my new growth just drinks it up. So I'm sure if u really warm it up with ur hands it would do a wonderful job.

With my hair I slathered it on my new growth and then basically covered it up with relax ends... so the thick globs of white were covered.

Hmm I wonder what would happen if i DC'ed with the creme.... its not worst than my Queen Helene cholesterol as far as consistency. I think next I will slather it on and put a shower cap on and sit under the dryer...

But I wonder if that would fry my hair like chicken in a skillet with some oil....

Whatever, it's just hair so I'm going to try DCing with Nieva Creme tomorrow and will up date y'all.
