Rollersetting and flatironing

I have gone to the salon twice this last month to blowdry and flatiron my hair straight. I haven't seen any negativ side-effects but they might come later on.
Now I'm open for new techniques that I can try at home that will save me money and save my hair(!)

I'm very new to haircare and the first time I blowdried and flatironed my hair was a month ago!.
I have a hooded dryer at home. And will be purchasing a flatiron soon.
Can you straighten your hair by rollersetting it and sitting under a dryer and then flatironing it. Will this be less time-consuming than the salon? Rollersetting it first will make it alot easier and less timeconsuming to flatiron and straighten the hair, right?
...and will it be better healthwise for my hair?

These may be stupid questions but I had to ask :D

thanx!

How about rollersetting your hair and then wrapping it?

That technique should give you the straight hair you want but still with body and bounce.

does this ruin your hair if it is done frequently (rollersetting/wrapping)?
