I think my title on my previous thread wasn't clear or to conservative
YT was my nice way of saying White and not YT for youtube.
Thread started yesterday - Do you watch YT ladies hair care videos?

Do you ladies watch any White ladies hair videos for tips and if so provide some links? Cause as we say the products geared to white people we can use for AA hair. So why not look at some of them and if make sense incorporate into our own.

In my last thread I mentioned I was surprise that some hair care tips aligns to AA hair care. I didn't learn anything new from her video but what she was doing wasn't foreign to me. It is like she was taking our hair care regimen for her own.

    Here is a link:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT9oHXk582U

at 1:30 she starts talking about this Carol's Daughter Manoi Oil Shampoo.

Now I also want to know what you ladies know on this Carol's Daughter Manoi Oil Shampoo. Have you used it and how was it for your AA hair (natural, texlax, relaxed)?

I don't have the links, but I've seen a few videos of straight haired women (white, Latin, etc) women reviewing certain products. It was actually a white woman that introduced me to Vatika oil.

In terms of the CD shampoo, I haven't tried it yet, but interested in learning more and reading/watching some reviews.

As an aside, I don't get the link between white and "YT". Is that supposed to be pronounced "whitey"...YT? :ohwell:

I don't have any links but I watch various ethnicities on youtube. I get a lot of style idea from all ethnicities. I've also learned to simplify my regime from watching all ethnicities. I learned about co washing from a white lady, "plopping", the pineapple, using a t-shirt to dry my hair....I've gotten a lot of great tips from white people!

I glean from everyone. If you think about it - every ethnic group have the same hair problems.

A method I use to get all the water out of my hair but others used it to dry and keep their curls (people with longer hair)

You pretty much stand over a t-shirt, and pull it upwards towards the top of your head and secure the sides. ITs kind of hard to describe. But your pretty much drying with a lot your hair piled on the top of your head. This just helps me get the most water out when I want to do wash and goes without dealing with a dripping mess.

I got the set as a gift, but didn't use it because every CD product that has touched my hair has been a hot mess. It smells really good, though.

I think I missed something, but what does YT stand for (outside of YouTube)? I watch other races videos. The makeup and beauty videos are awesome and I get 99% of my hairstyle ideas from other races. I get the best haircuts from white stylists as well.

I've used CD Monoi poo & condish and have made it one of my staples. My hair and I fell in love with it. It left my 8 week pre relaxed hair feeling so soft, moisturized and easy to comb. The masque is fantastic, I have since stacked up on those products!!

I look at the hairstyles at cutegirlshairstyles. There's a lot of braided stuff that I can emulate somewhat (my hair is a little short.)

I think it is white. YT-sound it out. It seems like a type of chat talk. but back on topic, I use what's useful and reject what is useless. Doesn't matter what race.

    No.

I find that I could definitely take away some information from a white woman with really curly hair, however, I'm fascinated by and much more interested in healthy black hair.

I've never been interested in other races and their hair on YouTube, maybe make up, skin care, but that is how far it goes.

I love plopping! That's pretty much the only way I do wash-n-gos (when i do them). I use an old t-shirt, after I saturate my hair with a leave-in (or butter) and sealing oil. It keeps my curls defined as they dry completely after removing the towel and the frizz down.

However i learnt all my best haircare tips from lorraine masey a curly haired white woman:yep:and anthony dickey (mixed raced) so the race isnt a issue

I just find few people in general know about curly hair period so when i find one i can relate to i hook on TIGHT:lachen:

Typically, no. Just not interested in watching non-black hair care vids. However, I do like ilovegerardo. She's got a beautiful head of hair, does a ton of neat styles and is very informative. I don't really follow her techniques, but I do like to watch her vids.

Yes YT - White, I got that acronym on LHCF.
It just never occurred to me to watch anybody outside of my ethnicity for hair care and tips. I stumbled upon the link I provided cause she was on the top page when I opened youtube and I liked her hair. Then I saw her link on long hair care, which I almost didn't open, just because she was white and it would be irrelevant to me.

I was just surprised by the similarities in regimens.

I have never bought any CD products and since it is mentioned on here frequently I am curious on you ladies opinion on Manoi Oil products.

BTW thanks for the additional links added to this thread.

LOVE her spiral (?) curls. I will have to try that type of roller set when I get some more length.

"I hate when hairdressers take off more than you want them to". She can say that again! :lachen: Sounds like a universal issue. :perplexed

    Ecostyler Crystal
    K-C Knot Today
    Curls Conditioner
    Natures Gate Conditioner

I've used all of those products before and loved them (not the Ecostyler gel). Another reminder that curl pattern doesn't determine what products to use.

I love that her she shows how much product she was using i was talking to someone on another board and she was CONVINCED that wash and go means just that...... and how white people barely use product.....ill be dropping this vid in her message box:lachen:

curl pattern doesnt determine what products i use either but i do personally find the curly girl handbook detailed and through descripitions on how to handle each type of curl fantastic!

Ill have to pick up that book at a certain point.

I'm at the gym most days of the week and some people would be shocked how much time some of those gals spend in the locker room on their hair. Products galore, blow dryers, flat irons, curling irons "falls", clip on weaves - it can sometimes double as a salon. :lachen:

It's so cool how even tho my hairtype is different from hers...I've tried a lot of the products she has reviewed and they all work perfectly for me. But if I put Shea butter in my hair it doesn't go over so well.

Shows how even tho we look different we're a lot alike :yep:
