New term! : Deep co-wash

tiffers

Whisper "bleep boop" to yourself when you're sad.
Okay, so I've been thinking for a while now.... I'm in the co washing challenge and the dc challenge and one thing's been confusing me. What's it called when you put conditioner on dry hair and leave it on while you excersize or overnight? It can be considered a dc, since the conditioner's on your head for an extended period of time. But it can also be considered a co wash, since you're only washing your hair with conditioner, right?

So why don't we just call it ''deep co-washing''?

What do ya'll think?

(Am I a loser for even pondering this? :look: )

I agree. I DCo wash three to four times a week. I'll drench the hair in whatever, baggy and rinse in the morning. On days I don't DC I just rinse my hair. Must wet the hair daily...

ETA: nothing, it just didn't sound right at first!

I have wondered the same thing because I usually slap on some conditioner before going to bed and then wash it out in the morning. So I like the idea of having an actual term for it. Yay for Deep Co-washing!

I DCo/DCW (LOL) every night... first i condition my hair with Dove Intense Therapy, leave that in for two min, allow my hair to drip dry then apply HE HH, put a baggy on my hair.. a scarf and go to bed. The next morning I wash it out and apply some ORS Olive Oil (in the jar) and VOILA my hair is perfectly moisturized, I love doing this and my hair is thanking me! What should the acronym be?

DCW?
DCoWash?

hmm:spinning:

Woo hoo!! I'm glad you guys like it! :woot:

I didn't even think of shortening it! How about: DCoWash or DCoW... That kind of looks confusing to me. Okay, DCW I think looks better. And it's less keystrokes (I'm lazy :lachen: )

DCW it is

Actually ... it's a great question. This is the way I prefer to co-wash (slather conditioner on dry hair and then sleep in it). Soooooo ... yeah ... I say we have a new term on our hands. DCW or DCoWash ... either acronym is fine with me.

And let me just say that once again, Tiffers, you and I are >>>>here<<<< (thinking of the same questions and what not). I see you like to ponder random thoughts too, huh?

This is SO CRAZY :spinning: - I was JUST thinking about this in the shower today while I was co washing before I went to work. Cause I wanted to do a co wash where I sit under the dryer with the conditioner and a conditioning cap for a half hour... and then just wash that out. And I said to myself -

"The girls on LHCF probably have an acronym for that already... I'll research when I get to work" LOL

Wouldn't that also fall under the "deep Co-wash" title?

I like DCw!! I do that on a regular basis....
Me 3, I did this the other night, I do this a lot actually. I don't have time to sit under the heating cap most days so I have been slapping on condish and sleeping in it..it's almost like cheating! LOL

 It does feel like cheating - I love it when I'm loving on my hair without actually having to WORK on it.... ;)

Girl, yes! I stay comin up with all kinds of little mundane hair questions in my head!

We're like long lost twins or something!

(Who yo daddy is? Is his name Larry? :look: )

So when you ladies say that you sleep in it, you mean slather it on and then put on a shower cap?

Can you slather it on about an hour before bed and just tie your hair up like usual?

What a coinky-dink!!

(yep, that would be a DCW  )

Yeah, I just put the conditioner on dry hair, cover with a platic bag (put a towel over my pillow) and go to sleep

I'm sure you could style as usual. That's kinda what littlegoldlamb's Cap N Go method is. Wash and condition at night. Apply more conditioner to hair after washing, cover with a plastic cap overnight. Wake up, take off cap and style (without rinsing conditioner out) Repeat at night.

hey i do this alot...i never thought about calling it dcw tho...good idea.

tiffers, i was in the shower last night thinking of oil steaming, after a cow, sop my hair up w/ oil and put a plastic bag on and steam and then rinse out with co or just plain water, while in the shower it's always easier. what cha think about that?

I love this term, DCW! I just did this last night, I do it a lot actually, when I'm too lazy to jump back in the shower to rinse out my conditioner. Yay, now we have a name for it!

Funny this is the only way I have ever done my hair

Either by leaving it in overnight or days, then rinsing and starting over.

I have almost never just got in the shower and put conditioner in and then rinsed, only on ocassion

So really what I called CW'ing was DCW'ing :yep:

I slather on the condish put a plastic cap on my head and then tie my scarf over that and go to sleep.

Ioknow, but I'm crackin up at you wondering if you're a loser for pondering this... I don't consort w/those types, so of course not!! You couldn't be in the gang if you were a loser. Anyhoo, maybe I get too analytical, but I think it's a good phrase to use as long as the conditioner you're using is a deep conditioner and not a rinse-out quicky conditioner you just decided to leave in longer than usual. That's just my personal interpretation, and that's what I'll be referring to when I use the term-and I'll definitely be using it! :spinning:
New acronym to add to the handbook: DCW

yay for DCWs!

now if only i could figure out how to DC overnight without waking up with a face smeared with conditioner...

:lachen:
Hey I put on my plastic cap and then I use one of those Do rags that they sell for men in the BSS with the long wrap ties and the long tail that hangs in the back. It's wave cap but its made for a man's big head. I put that on and wrap the string around my head twice...that bad boy stays put...plastic cap and all until the next morning. You have to get the heavier one, not the thin cheap one...

This is the only way I ever Co-wash. DCW its is. This morning I put on some Damage remedy and some coconut oil went running, did chores and washed it out .
