Hey ladies! First of let me start by thanking Chocolatesis, Foxxylisa1025, Cubanit, YamisGirl, Princessnad, Crazydaze911, and Brittanynic16 for answering my pm's and sharing their BKT experience with me. I have a couple inches of texlaxed hair and i'm kinda on the fence about being relaxed, texlaxed, and natural. I decided not to texlax prior to the application to see how straight my hair would get after the process. I ordered the 2% chocolate from here http://www.bestkeratin.com/Produto.aspx In the pics below I described my process. I highly recommend like the other BKT ladies have already to make sure you are in a well ventilated area with a fan blowing directly in your face for the whole process (application, blow drying, and flat ironing). Overall I am very pleased with the treatment and I am praying that this is not to good to be true. I wish I could tell you all that I didn't loose a single hair after the process, I don't think ther's anything in the world that magical! Enjoy! Ladies PM me if have any questions.

Every day bun prior to BKT
I have a couple of inches of texlaxed hair. I love the waves! I bun everyday!

Clarified ,naked, and wet hair
Prior to application the BKT, you have to clarify. I clarified with Keracare first lather, colored with clairol's natural instinct midnight black, and clarifed again. (This pic was taken prior to the color)

Blown dry naked hair
Prior to BKT application you have to blow dry your hair naked 80%.

Flat ironed texture shot after BKT
After you apply the BKT to your hair you have to blow dry hair with the solution in it. Once it's dry, you have to flat iron hair in small sections at 450 dregrees passing over each section at least 10 times

Next day hair
The BKT instructions recommend that you do not wash, use any products, or use any clips, bands, or any other means to tie up your hair for the next two days. The night of application I wrapped my hair and tied it up with a scarf.

Next day hair

I had to throw a length shot in there, LOL!

Washed hair post BKT
They recommend you wait 2 days prior to washing, I'm a couple of hours early. I washed with Hair One for color treated hair

Post BKT air dried hair
Used Elasta QP H-two. Air dried in about 30 min

Everyday bun after BKT texture shot
As you can see I still have a slight wave pattern. I used HS 14 in 1, sealed with vatika frosting, and put a little gel on for good measure

You're very welcome! Your hair looks great!

Your hair really looks great. I would love to try it but I am such a chicken. I have not had a relaxer since May, would I be a good candidate for this treatment?

I don't see why not. I'm think as far as your new growth goes it will probably have the outcome of a texlax. Your new growth will be so much more managable. My texlaxed part is almost straight. HTH

This looks interesting. I just checked the website, and saw that they have formaldehyde free treatments that straighten the hair 90%. I think I will try that since the formaldehyde still leaves me a bit unnerve.

I'm still a little confused at what a BKT does. I'm natural, and does this work just as well? What exactly does it do, relax the waves? Is it permanent? Is this a chemical? Also, I was looking at your pictures which were nice by the way, but do you think the flat ironing may have a lot to do with why your roots were straightened more even after the second wash?
I don't want to misquote what the BKT is or give you false info but you can read about it on their website http://www.bestkeratin.com/Produto.aspx. But I will answer your questions about my hair. I have a couple inches of texlaxed hair and the rest is bone straight. I can acheive the same results using a good heat protectant and flat iron. But once I wash my hair or work up a good sweat (I sweat just thinking about physical actvity) it will revert. With the BKT, after i washed my hair my roots/texlaxed part was very relaxed. My relaxed part was nice and silky. Detangling was a breeze. As far as sweating, I went out Saturday night, let's just say I'm not a wall flower. After leaving the club my roots were still straight and surprisingly still dry. The only part that was wet a couple inches of hair that laid on my sweaty back:yep: HTH

Are you relaxed? If so, and you plan to continue, i think the formaldehyde free treatments are the way to go. For me, I went with the 2% so i can still have a little texture. I'm on the fence with transitioning.

Looks good! How many ounces in a bottle? Are you able to get multiple uses?
Thanks...33.8 FL OZ in a bottle. I used about 4 ounces for my whole head. So yes, I will get plenty of use out of it. Plan on doing it every 6 weeks or so. They say you see more improvement after every use.

I am tempted to try this for the strengthening aspect of it. I have natural 4b roots so I doubt it'd get very straight but if it would strengthen and allow me to retain length I'd be more than happy.

Don't you have to use certain shampoos and conditioners? Also how do you apply do you put it all over the head like a conditioner or do you apply it to each section before flat ironing?

I'm so glad it worked for you too! Don't you love the way it feels? I just bought a new flat iron that actually goes to 450, so I'm hoping for even better results the next time.

Yes, you do have to to use certain shampoos and conditioners, they mention them on the website. It's a liquid that you apply to each section like doing a virgin relaxer. You blow dry and flat iron at 450 in small sections. HTH

I LOVE IT. It looks so shiny. thats what i love about the BKT (plus the strength). If i ever dye my hair, i will def have to use this with it, but idk if i ever will..... Let me know how it is when it wears off - with mine it was hard to tell how long it lasted b/c im mostly natural.

I'm hoping to replace my relaxer, the texlaxed part got really relaxed. It relaxed to texture that I really liked. It does feel a lot stronger. I didn't get as many broken hairs as I usually get. At $270 a bottle it better do something! Yeah, the formaldehyde scares me to but I think if you take the precautions everything should be ok!

The bottle i saw on the other website is pretty big. u didnt use the whole thing, did u? how many applications do you think it would be good for?

Does this work on totally virgin natural hair....like 4a/b?

I'm ready to chop my hair off because of the frustration I'm feeling.

It works alot better on relaxed or colored hair but naturals can use it too. Does not last as long on virgin hair (about 2 months) but i would DEFINITELY look into it before thinking about BCing. I was an inch away from relaxing and the results were so good it SAVED me - its BETTER than a relaxer, but its not permanent (which is why its cool for someone who wants to remain natural). Its too much for me to keep doing it every two months, but i know if i ever get pissed enough to run for scissors i would run to the BKT first.

Mannnnn.... I'm really thinking about doing this for the summer. I contacted a salon about doing it for me but they never got back to me. I know I can do this myself. I may dye my hair first and then apply the BKT. That way I'll get straighter results... :look:

No, I'm natural. I'm still trying to decide whether I want to relax my hair or remain natural. I'm going to invest in a maxiglide. If I like it, I think I'll stay natural.

You can try the BKT to temporarily relax your hair. If you dont like it, you can go back to your natural texture. If you do try, it I would recommend the 4% since your natural. HTH

I have a question Kellylinn77. When you wash your hair in 5-7 days will it lay back down flat like it is now, or will you have to flat iron it straight again?

My hair is always poofy after I wash and I just wondered if this was a way I could avoid flat ironing once a week like I do now.

Your hair looks great. Does anyone know if any of the formaldehyde stays in the hair after the treatment is rinsed out? Like, I know that the keratin is what stays in the hair, but does the formaldehyde (or any of the other harsh ingredients) stay too?

I wanna do this so bad. I would just be concerned about formaldehyde seeping onto my scalp from the hair during the 2-3 months.

The directions say wait 3 days before you wash it, sweat, get rained on etc....They say the BKT needs time to set. I did it Friday night, went to the club on Sat. and danced my a$$ off til 5:30 am, and it washed it on Sunday. The pics I posted after the first wash was air dried hair. I'm pretty sure I could have wrapped it after it air dried and it would have looked like my pic of "next day hair" without flat ironing it. I wrapped it when I came home from the club Sun. morning after dancing all night and it was very straight. Next time I do it I'm going to follow the directions and let it set for the three days without sweating and washing so soon. Pretty sure I'll have a better outcome. HTH
