Anyone near or met their hair goal but having trouble keeping their hair? I'm experiencing a lot of shedding or my hair gets caught on stuff. How can I keep it strong and healthy?
When my hair was mid back, I had a really good stylist that I trusted to take care of it (I got it done weekly) and the longer my hair got, I noticed the same thing. I wore it straight and during the course of a day, I would see really long strands of my hair everywhere - in my car, on my desk, etc. She said that it was either one or two things: (1) with it being that long, it's naturally going to get caught in things and snag on things, unless you wear it up, or (2) medication or deficiency in diet. At that particular time, in my case, it was just the length because my diet was fine and everything else was o.k.
There was a particular time when I was taking antibiotics though and I got really scared because unbeknownst
(o.k. I know I just made that word up!) to me, it would make your really dry, brittle and make it shed. When I told her how much hair I was seeing in my comb daily (I usually wouldn't see any), she started going down the checklist and when I said "oh I am taking some antibiotics" she realized that was the culprit. She did more deep conditioning and some protein treatments and extra moisturizing and it cut down on the shedding a lot. Then again as one poster said, it may be the change of the seasons.
