I went from this

To this

After a haircut. I feel like I'm right back where I started when I first found LCHF. :wallbash: I haven't had a trim in over a year and needed one. I feel like I'm getting NOWHERE! Two months of babying my hair just flew out the window with a snip of a scissor! I feel like I'm NEVER going to have hair down my back ever again! Everytime I get up to do my hair now, I feel disappointed. I'm starting to ask myself "why are you doing this? Your hair looks like crap anyway."

Aww, OP! I'm so sorry...I understand needing a trim, but you got a hair CUT...why did you feel you needed that much hair cut off- from the pics, it doesn't look like you needed a cut...Did you watch the stylist cutting it? I know I'm asking many questions, but I feel sorry for you!

Why did you CUT your hair for? You needed a light dusting maybe a trim the most but definitely not a cut.
Anyways now your ends are healthy so you should be able to retain more.

I'm assuming this was a stylist......welp, what can you do? Don't look back, don't give up, and in the future learn how to self trim ((((hugs)))).

i agree, you did not need a whole cut. you say you've only been on the hhj for 2months? give it more time. long healthy hair takes patience.

Was this done by a stylist? I'm confused as to why you needed so much hair cut off. How are you maintaining your hair in between trims? In your fist pic your hair doesn't look terribly unhealthy.

The thing with hair is that just becase you've had a setback doesn't mean that your hair will disappear. You will still have to deal with it so you might as well keep caring for it. At this point your hair is cut. OK. So let's just get back on track. Keep up with your regimen. Tweak it if need be and stay away from scissors for a while. Trust me your hair will grow back and it will be healthy. If you are cool with protective styling hide it for a while to give yourself time to get over this setback. Good luck sis!

I know how dissapointed you feel. Several years ago, I got so impatient waiting for my son-in-law to come over and trim my hair, I grabbed the scissors and began trimming. I kept snipping until I only had approx. 3" of hair all over my head! I was so mad at myself, I went to bed. However, I took this as an opportunity to nuture my hair and eventually, it grew back...although it seemed like it took forever. My family and especially my son-in-law thought my hair grew back very fast!

Just continue to take care and baby your hair. With patience it'll grow back in no time. I can't wait to see pics of your new growth!:)

Your hair looks very healthy and you could have gotten away with a light dusting of your ends. Cheer up! It will grow back...just takes time and patience. You WILL have hair down your back :yep:

Thanks everybody. Yes it wad done by a stylist. I have no idea how to cut/dust my hair so I let a stylist do it. I regret it now but I also can't take it back... :wallbash:

Hang in there and by all means don't give up! Anything worth having is worth working towards and waiting for. When I first found this site I was so excited with all I was learning and I jumped onevery bandwagon and bought every product that was being raved about. Long story short, I did more damage than good. I stepped away for a while to "learn" my hair. Now that I am back on here I know I will not hit my goals over night but I also am more determined than ever to not give up. These are the most knowledgable and supportive women I have come across when it comes to all things hair. I checked out a few other sites and came back to LHCF. Hang in there!!!

awwww sorry dear, but i agree with nayna, you know, you're still gonna need to deal with your hair, why not deal with it the right way? You know, many of us have had at least a set back but what can we do, but keep on trucking, right? Maybe i should start a thread called "i had a minor/major set back but look at me now" (lord knows i need it =) ) for inspiration to keep going. But look on the bright side, your hair is healthy now! Shooooo, short hair don't care neither lol

Your stylist is a jerk. In case that person is a friend or relative I apologize if I offend. However, don't let that person near your hair again.

I'm sorry to hear about your cut. Judging from the first pic, all you needed was a dusting. My advice is to not give up. Just continue to "baby" your hair and you'll see improvement soon. Before you know it, you'll be posting a progress thread. Hang in there!

Thanks everybody... I've been feeling really down these past few days. And have only been keeping up my hair routine this past week because I felt like I had to... I really needed this encouragement. I'm glad to know I can come here for support at any time.

AWww ((((hugs))) I've been where you are. I agree with the advice that everyone else has already given you. Don't give up on your HHJ! A setback is just a setup for a comeback.

ETA: When you get a chance, take a look at some of the threads on trimming. There are many different methods out there. I'm sure that you'll find one that works for you :)

I had a stylist take me from BSL to just grazing full APL last month, so I feel your pain. It's really frustrating to see progress and have it taken away just like that by someone else's scissor happy hands. She took off way too much and I would be hopping mad if I were you.

Trying to give you some encouragement here -- you're transitioning, right? You're that much closer to being natural. Yay!

I think the majority of our members (and, yes, I'm generalizing, but so what?) came here because of one setback or another. I know I did; I'd been doing my own hair for years, and it was all good until I tried to do way too much and ended up over-processing my hair, thus taking myself from grazing APL to neck length because of breakage (My album is in my profile if you want to take a look). Don't give up just because of one SHS, Miryoku! You know we're all here for you.

Hugs to you! I've lived in setback city for the past two years and I need to relocate.

I made SL for the first time in my life to be reduced to the first picture in my siggy.

I think it's time for a personal HIDE YOUR HAIR CHALLENGE. Put it up and away so you're not obsessing over the length. That way you can give yourself a nice surprise like I did.

Check the second pic in my siggy. :)

(((hugs))). I know it's frustrating and I know it hurts but you've got to dust yourself off and get back at it. Learn to self-trim or don't get another trim until you've found someone you can trust. And even then be extra careful, give detailed instructions, make sure they're in agreement with you, and then still watch them like a hawk. Most of us have had setbacks. I used to say I was the setback queen, but I don't say that anymore, I refuse to see myself that way.

Until I found LHCF I could never get my hair past my neck, literally everytime it would get to the base of my neck I would have a setback and back to broken off napedness I'd go. This went on for years and years until I found LHCF. Now my nape is like whattt? LOL, and grows out like the rest of my hair. You will get past this and will one day be encouraging someone else.

Don't let this setback stop you from taking care of your hair. Keep in mind your hair is healthy and will grow back. If you are feeling fustrated just braid your hair or wear a phony pony tail or weave until you get back to your before picture. I have setbacks and I do my own hair.

Did you ask for stylist to give you layers?

Don't give up hope. You know it'll grow again. Don't go to the stylist for trims.

dont give up, i have had one big set back my whole life literally, the minute my aunt gave me a relaxer for the first time when i was 7 my hair has been a hot mess... it still is a hot mess but im getting better at managing it. You know now that your hair can be that length all you gotta do is take care of your hair until your reach that and further!!

Your hair should really take off now that you have gotten rid of those bad ends. Look at it as a positive, you don't need a light dusting for at least 6-8 months. Baby your hair now, keep it moisturized with low manipulation, protect your ends and you will regain the length and then some.

Aww, it's okay hair buddy! Remember that you are transitioning and losing some of the relaxed ends as you go is a part of the process. Trust me, I know exactly what you're going through! I've been a member here since 2007 (under a different screen name) and I'm STILL at the same length, mainly because of a lack of diligence and my scissor-happy self!

Just keep babying your hair. You have to resign yourself to the fact that you WILL lose relaxed ends as you transition. But think of those beautiful curls underneath! Eventually you'll have a head full of beautiful, natural hair. Just don't give up!

:grouphug3:i had a stylist to cut my hair like that i was SL and she decided to cut my hair to NL ( she said she was going to give me a trim) so when i saw what she did i was very upset but i picked myself up( after a few days) and learned how to braid my hair (the crown and glory method and youtube vids) and press my way forward. I know its hard but WE ALL KNOW you can do it. Just keep focus:yep:
