Good job. You've made great progress:yep:

Please share what you consider the dreadlocks mind. I've had conversations with people with locs and I would like to know if everyone thinks that way.

Did you have to cut them out completely?

Thank you!

What I mean by Dreadlocked state of mind is that the care for locked hair and length retention are polar opposites. With my locks, I didn't worry about conditioning or moisturizing after shampooing because that would deter my progress. Also, with locks it is common to separate the the roots to keep them from meshing together, aka- popping locks, this is a no-no with loose hair, any breaking or popping of the hair will cause damage. When I cut my locks off in 2007, I ripped my hair very badly unbeknowst to me because I was so use to popping my locks and the sound of hair breaking didn't phase me and I kept at it to get out tangles. Now, I am a very gentle. I separate my hair gently before using any kind of comb.

Very good progress. So what was the tip you got from your stylist?

The tip was to stay away from water!!!! Meaning in the past, I wet my hair daily with water and seal with oil and my hair was always dry and dryness for me causes split ends. I had to cut quite a bit. So, I tried it out and now if I need to moisturize I use Hawaiian Silky and follow that up with an oil. She also recommended using a leave in conditioner instead of water to keep in moisture. I must say, I don't have problems with dryness and I have retained a lot of hair. Also, I have changed how I detangle and I loose a small bit of hair instead of a golf ball size or more because I wasn't being gentle. I do a dry detangling like Sera44 ? I believe is her name. She is on youtube. Her method has worked great for me.
