I’m interested to know the relationship between length/retention/growth and the frequency/infrequency of washing. So if you are Armpit length or longer: how often do you typically wash (not co-wash) your hair with an actual shampoo (sulfate or sulfate free)?

I'll go first...I wash every 4-7 days.

I shampoo weekly on average so I voted every 4-7 days

ETA: I also use products daily...sometimes moisturizing and sealing up to twice a day. So I get build up quickly but if I don't put much product on my hair I could go for 2 weeks with no shampoo, just cowashes

I'm BSB for the first time in my life and I only got here by changing my routine to washing and DCing every three weeks. I'm also texlaxed, so for me the less manipulation the better. If I were natural I'd wash more often, but my hair is already in a very fragile state.

I can't view the poll or vote from my phone. I don't use shampoo at all. I'm MBL and only cowash a few times per week.

Wow. I didn't even include an option for not shampooing at all. I thought everyone had to eventually shampoo. Too bad there is no option to edit a poll!

I use shampoo 2x a week. First shampoo is mild protein (Motions CPR) and second shampoo is moisturizing (Nexxus Therappe). I do a dc after each shampoo.

1 or 2 times a week. Sulfate free shampoo or black soap or castille soap. My shampoos are always very strong, never moisturizing. I'm BSL

If it weren't for the fact that my scalp starts to really itch and smell at 3 or 4 days I would shampoo less frequently....although product build-up also starts to occur at about the 4 day mark too.

Every 7 to 10 days; only because sometimes life is hectic. I want to increase it to every 4-7 instead.

I shampoo every 7 days with a diluted shampoo to cleanse my scalp; when I get back home to the states I will look for a moisturizing shampoo so I don't have to worry about drying my hair out.

I voted 8-14 days, but I, too, am a no-pooer...I use WEN Cleansing Conditioner...I would like to increase my frequency to once every 7 days though just because I can increase my deep conditioning frequency...

Once a month before I henna and DC. Every week I cowash though with Tresseme Naturals. I use giovanni 50:50 to poo/clarify.

I voted 8-14. Sometimes I wash every week and sometimes I wash every 2 weeks...and sometimes I go longer than two weeks. But it's mostly every week or two. I would like to wash multiple times a week but it's too time consuming.

its so sporadic. sometimes i can go 3 weeks sometimes i can only go 3 days.it depends on how my hair is styled...currently id say the average is about 1x a week.

shrinkage.
I shampoo probably between every three to six days. I would wash less frequently if my hair would get softer with time, like it would do when I was relaxed and flat ironed. But my hair seems to get drier and harder as time goes on after shampooing, so I have to do it again to "refresh" my hair.

Between APL & BSL here and I shampoo weekly. Anything less than that and my scalp itches too bad.

I only add product to my hair once a week. I style and moisturize after I wash and then rock a twist out, braid out, etc. the rest of the week.

Every 6 weeks. I do not use any products that leaves residue to cause build-up, so my daily co-washing keeps my hair clean.

I'm not APL, but I figure once I get to that length, I'll chill out a bit on daily washing. I'm using DW now for accelerated growth to the point of maintaining a wet bun regimen. Once I'm APL, I see myself washing just weekly or biweekly since I'll be able to style my dry hair in a bun or a braid.

Twice a week which works out to be on the 3rd day and on the 4th day alternately. I use either a sulfate or sulfate free shampoo indiscriminately.
