Is anyone still using MSM??

Oh yeah, the vivid dreams. I've always had them so the MSM isn't making them any worse. Also, some ladies mentioned that taking it in the morning helped with that (instead of taking it right before bed).

I was so scared that I took about 1/4 of the recommended dosage on the container. I started at 1000 mg. I wanted to see what kind of side effects I would have. When I stopped and went back to it, I only took 2000 mg. Even 1000 mg is keeping my back pain at bay.

I think I will do 2000mg
And start in the morning! I'm like you I already have very vivid dreams so hopefully it won't be that bad if at all. I'm really excited about my joints feeling better. It honestly stops me from being as active as I would like.

I take the powdered form - in the mornings, I add about half a tablespoon of MSM to my orange juice - then use the juice to gulp down biotin, vit b, zinc and a multi vit.

Wow. Loving this thread.

I have a bottle of Jarrow's MSM pills in my cupboard. I've been taking chlorella and wanted to see how I reacted before taking the MSM. I tried it for a couple days and stopped since I am so terrible at taking pills plus I really like to monitor how I react with something first before adding something new.

However, all this talk of lighter periods and less joint pain is motivating me. I have carpal tunnel in both hands plus arthritis of the spine and bursitis in one of my shoulder blades. It can be excruciating at times.

Guess I'll start that bottle today. Thanks ladies!

Have been taking 1,000 mg caps pretty consistently since mid 2006, and it helps with everything from body detox to joint and connective tissue health to hair shedding by blocking DHT and prolonging the growth phase of hair follicles. Real good stuff.

You ladies are getting me excited!!!

I've been using msm soap for the past week and my skin is so smooth. I can't even describe it!!!

How is the taste ?

And are any of you also taking vitamin c with it? I heard that this helps it work to its fullest,

Yep, I've been taking about 3000mg for about a year now I guess. I do take it with a vitamin C tablet. I was taking the vit C to combat spider veins primarily but read it was supposed to enhance the performance of MSM. The biggest benefits have been complexion and joint pain relief hands down. I dunno if it has helped with my hair or not but figure it can't hurt anything. I mix it with juice or blended green foods and do not taste a thing:lick:. I will always take it b/c of the joint relief!

You'll know you've taken too much if you get a headache or if you have to "go" a lot. It is known to increase bowel movements.

Be careful. You don't know how it'll affect you. You also don't want the bumps on your face and other negative side effects.

I take Solgar Skin Hair and Nails formula, and the main ingredient is 1000mg of OptiMSM (also has silica, L-Proline, L-Lysine, vitamin C, and a couple minerals in it).

I noticed the "regularity" side effect (nothing bad, it's just that things are like "clockwork" now ), but no bad dreams or breakouts or anything. It makes my hair softer. I've noticed that my eyelashes are especially lush lately. I don't think it's because of them growing faster, but I think there may be some truth to the extended growth phase thing.

I dont think it makes your hair grow faster :nono: It extends the growth phase:yep:

Yes, this is what I'm aiming for. I know my hair grows. I'd just love to extend the growing phase.

I recently BC'd and have been taking it almost every other day in pill form. I had the powder but could not get over the bitter taste since I only drink water...no juice.

So that's why I have been regular...

I've been taking MSM for a long time now. (I can't remember when I started, but I think it's been about 18 months.) When I started taking it, it was like another person's hair started growing on my head. My hair was stronger and seemingly more moisturized, and my curl pattern was looser. I used to struggle stretching my relaxers 10 or 11 weeks, and now I can stretch for 6 months with ease. Interesting! (I take silica as well, so that may be contributing to my "new hair," too.) Oh, and my knees don't crackle anymore.

Yay!!! I have only been taking it maybe two or three days but no side effects so hopefully I can continue it and report back with my long term benefits. Its nice to see you have had great results with taking msm. Did you take the powder form? How much do you take daily ?

Wow, thanks for this thread, I had forgotten about MSM. I took it for carpal tunal, and the carpal tunal went away and never came back. I am going to start taking it again.

Think my psoriasis cleared up a bit too, slightly lighter cycle, and I was a bit more regular, but at the time I did not associate MSM with those things.

Bumping this super old thread to see if anyone is still taking MSM nearly 10 years later from here. I used to take it about 15 years ago, but had stopped and this made me think I need to start back up again. I don’t remember any specific results from it in the beginning, but I remember realizing I got definite results after adding increased vitamin C intake. I’m pretty sure I ended up just mixing it in a 2-liter bottle of Tang and drinking that throughout the day. Might have to do that again.
