I've been looking for a good hair supplement to land on. This looks very interesting but it's expensive! Gah! I'm currently taking Futurebiotics Hair/Skin/Nails. I'm not sure that its really helping with my growth.

I have been taking the extra strength for about 5 months now, I haven't been taking them with biotin or iron :(. I take them with women one a day multi-vitamins and vitamin C. I said after the last pack I wasn't going order another pack.. I usually purchase the 3pack for $88..

So you're not pleased with the results?

Anyone picking it up?

It has 50% more of the AminoMarTM Marine Complex...plus they added biotin and iron. (900 mg of the AminoMarTM Marine Complex for 2 tablets daily)

ETA info from email they sent:

We are so excited to introduce you to the new and improved Viviscal Extra Strength! This new formulation has 50% MORE of the active ingredient, AminoMar™. We've also added new ingredients Biotin, Iron, Zinc and Millet Seed- all fundamental to the growth of healthy hair.

Isn't millet seed used for bird feed?
I don't see how is that important for hair growth.

I just did a search for millet and hair growth.

Found this:

MILLET EXTRACT
According to Indena, a research and development company focused on plant derivatives, millet extract contains a number of beneficial ingredients for your skin, hair and nails. These include protein, iron, silicon, amino acids, phosphorus and B vitamins. Since your hair consists largely of keratin, a protein that contains 18 amino acids, millet extract gives your body what it needs to produce keratin. You can buy millet extract in pill form, or purchase millet oil in capsules.

I actually never heard of millet until recently.

I'm now taking the original Viviscal Extra Strength for about a week now. I really hope it works well because at $50 a pack, I could go broke if I'm not careful.

I'm on Instagram
Hello ladies ! I just wanted to inform ya'll that I went to 2 of my local Walgreen's to pick up the original Extra Strength Viviscal formula, and I could not find it . They only had the new formula so since I didn't have any more left, I'd decided to buy it. Now with the new formula, the pills are slightly larger, and at first I was kind of upset about that. However, they are still easy to swallow and so far I have not experience any negative side effects. I just wanted you ladies to be aware that the new formula pills are slightly larger in case any one has a hard time swallowing pills like myself.

I am bummed out because I think they may be discontinuing the old formula. I cant take biotin so this is bad news for me.

Nature's Gate Marine Collagen supplements work just as well. :yep:

I can testify that Nature's Gate is the truth :yep: I'll try new formula Viviscal too. I think it was your post that got me started on it.

My question to you is what is your dosage for Nature's Gate? It's normally 2 pills/day. What was your dosage when you were trying to make it have a similar impact like Viviscal?

I took the recommended dosage of 2 pills, one in the morning and one in the evening. Now that I'm growing my hair after a setback, I'd like to take like 5 of them lol (I won't though, I'm scared too lol).:lachen:

I do want to try the new Viviscal as well even thought I love the regular Viviscal and the Natural Gate.

Sorry to hear about that setback :ohwell:. So irritating when that happens :nono:

I'm planning on doing two in the morning, two in the evening :look: I'll let you know how I do, but I don't have much to compare it to since I haven't used Viviscal at all. I'm just going to go by hair growth.

Neocollagen was a total of 6 pills (3 in the morning, 3 in the evening) and that was the recommended dosage. It wasn't as good as Nature's Life even though it's cheaper. @ 4 pills Marine Collagen would be about 4,400mg of collagen and Neocell was about 6000mg of collagen with its 6 pills at its standard dosage. I think I'll be ok :yep:

Yes, it is irritating. Oh well, maybe I will just double my dosage of Natures Gate lol. Please keep me posted on how you are doing and if it actually works! :)

Just a heads up....Folica has this thing where if you buy 50 bucks worth of Viviscal you get $10 off automatically. Plus they have a 20% special running if you spend 50 bucks, so you get the tablets for $30 for 1 and $70 for 2 orrrrr you can be cheap like me and make 2 different orders and get 2 for $60 . OH and they're the new formula. I'm an "elite" member so I have free shipping on any purchase, but if you plan to get 2 for $70 you'll still receive free shipping :). (I hope this makes sense lol)

I have a few vitamins left then 2 packs left of the old formula (I take it with a separate iron supplement). When they sent out the coupon code introducing the new formula in an email I ordered it right away. I haven't tried the new formula yet but in about two months I will be. So far I love the results I've gotten from Viviscal and have no complaints.

About the nails though... Mine became very strong and were growing when I first began taking it. Then I started taking a multivitamin for a bit and stopped and now I noticed my nails recently started peeling and breaking (I do a lot of housework-hands always in water, etc), and I thought it was because I discontinued the other vitamin. So I'm waiting to see if my body will "re-adjust" and I'll have the original results with my nails while just taking Viviscal.

Overall though I'm very happy with Viviscal. The areas of my hair I wanted to fill in (edges and some breakage in the middle) did. And my hair shedding appears normal (almost minimal). I wanted to be able to not necessarily be rough with my hair and get away with it, but not have to be so overly cautious and take 12 hours to do it. And I reached that goal with lots of healthy hair growth. (Note: I do have super thick strong hair so proceed with caution and do what works for your hair. I don't want to be accused of someone's hair care going very wrong because they have fine strands and got super rough just because they were taking Viviscal.) Hope this feedback helps :)

Sooo I don't know if I'm going to be able to tell if Viviscal is really working because I'm already using a growth aid (MN). How do you tell distinguish what is doing what when you are using multiple growth aids?

Just picked up two packs of the new formula but I'm torn :). I don't know if I should finish my other two packs of the old extra strength formula. I used my Ulta 20% off coupon!!

I think if you have been using MN for a while already your growth rate should either be the same or better after starting a new growth aid. If its better then you know the Viviscal is working. If your growth rate remains the same then it's not doing diddly squat.

I didn't pay attention to hair growth for the first two months, but I grew about 1.5 - 2 inches when I checked mid-November (September - November). Mind you, I also switched to Neocell in October.

HOWEVER, I saw a difference with Marine Collagen within 1 - 2 weeks for eyelash hair. Skin was also better. Nail growth was great, but I agree with someone that there is more peeling for me now. But I also think it's because I use acetone and like to do my nails.

I also have gray hairs that have helped me keep track of growth, lol. I haven't plucked those bad boys at all just so I can see what this collagen does. One hair has been showing some good length :yep:

I'm a slow grower so I average about 4 inches a year. If I'm lucky :ohwell:

ETA = I'm measuring at 9-10.5 inches all around (from December 2nd). I'll do another check in January. If I see 10-11.5 inches :look::lol:... I'm riding this bandwagon FOR LIFE!

You mean nature's gate or nature's life? I can't for the life of me find nature's gate online. What does it look like? Everytime I type in nature's gate, nature's life pops up.

luckiestdestiny

It's Natures Life, sorry for the confusion!

AH HA HA HA!!! Yes! I saw this on amazon but was afraid to order. No worries. Also thanks for posting in this thread as I moved this question to your other thread. off to order. I already have a collagen supplement so I can just replace it or double up. Does that matter? It's collagen I'd think it will be okay. I was using it for my skin but hey if there are hair benefits yay!
