Have You Ever Wondered...

how some stylist are stil in business? I just had the roughest hair wash in my entire life. Before she touched my hair I told her I was transitioning and have been for about 10 months so you have to be gentle. Welp that must have went in one ear and out the other. I also told her I just washed my hair before Christmas. She shampooed twice and then asked did I want her to shampoo again. I'm like no there is no way my hair is that dirty. Then when she was drying it OMG! I was sure there was going to be no relaxed ends on my hair when she was done because she was trying to break them all off. I just asked to get up and go to the bathroom so I could 1) save my head and 2) see what the damage was. I'm getting a roller set so hopefully that was the last and the actually stylist is gentler. Otherwise I am walking out of here with a wet head because I have been great with not experiencing much breakage this entire transition and there is no way I'm going to start now at the hands of a stylist that lacks the knowledge to do my hair. Pray for me, ladies.

ETA she seems like w nice lady overall but her niceness is not translating to my head

She is probably angry that she will be losing client and trying to discourage you from going natural.:afro:

It seems like gentle handling is not something widely practiced .. or maybe its just not taught in school?
Its like they think natural hair = strong as steel.
I've gone to rough natural stylist too.

I thought I was getting a roller set but she starts blow drying my hair. I had to stop her and tell her "I said I wanted a roller set" to which she responded she wouldn't be able to do that because my roots would shrink up when it's dry and it won't curl properly. I didn't even want to rebut it because if she thinks she can't do it I don't need my hair to be the Guinea pig. So she used perm rods instead. I felt a lot of tugging and I turn around and she is using a rat-tail comb on my head. I had to take a deep breath. Then asked did she have a wide tooth comb. She switched. This is NOT my normal stylist. I am starting a new job Monday and someone offered to get my hair done as a gift. We are about an hour from my house so my stylist wasn't an option. The person who offered to get my hair done keeps her hair short and only goes to this stylist to get her texlaxer touch ups so she is not really aware of how this woman handles hair but she will NEVER touch my hair again.
