I know we give advice about hair all for FREE. Would you pay for your hair regimen to be tweaked?

Not online, no, and I wouldn't be willing to take money from someone for tweaking their reggie online. There is still no replacement for a hands on investigation of someone's hair, and without that, the value added (for me) has such a large potential to be wrong, that - just no.

Now, if it was a hands on thing - definitely. I was actually pondering whether such a thing would be possible - but it would have to work out of a beauty salon, I think.......

We're paying for it now so to speak. I mean this board isn't free and I know I have followed the recommendations I've found here. If you go to a beauty salon you're paying them to take care of your hair and sometimes they do give advice on hair care. If I asked some random person on the street who had nice hair to tell me what she does but she tells me give me a couple dollars then no I wouldn't.

I agree. Besides this site, I doubt I'd be paying for anything else. And I come here because I love the OT, ent, fashion, etc.

There's SO much info about hair on the net. I don't think anyone should pay for much.

No, not unless my hair was extremely damaged or something that was proven to safely grow my hair at a very fast rate. And then, like NappyWomyn said, nothing online or extremely high-priced books, only in person.

We already do: 5 bucks

No but really, I personally wouldn't because I pretty much know what I'm doing. And if I have a question, I'll look it up here or ask here.

I know what site you're talking about, and I think a lot of women there are newbies to haircare and are somewhat clueless when it comes to this stuff (I saw a post by a woman who relaxed her hair TWICE a month! :eek2: ) So I can see where they would be willing to pay $5 :yep:

It's $6.50 now :look:. I think the cost of belonging to this board (and not just lurking for free) is well worth it :yep:.

Hi! Im pretty sure you are talking about me:lachen: The dvd tutorial was my clue...

The consultation is really for people who are totally lost and really was designed to help me manage my email volume. This way, people would be less inclined to email me with questions like "whats a prepoo" which can be answered via my search button.

In addition, sometimes I would spend a lot of time on a response and then never hear from them again..not even a thanks..:sad:Plus, with all of the emails from the blogs, forums, etc. I was not spending that time on creating new content, dvds, etc. which is ultimately what I need to pay the bills.

I also started a social network with blogs and forums so people could ask general questions. I just wanted to focus my time more and spend time with the people who wanted my specific advice.

It depends.

If it is someone that came from where i am and has achieved great amount of growth and depending on the amount of money. i wouldnt mind.

It took me so long to figure out what would work and im still learning. Some of us learn faster than others for what works.

LHCF and other boards are great even the free ones. But hair products and regimens are trial and error. And if its worth me not having to spend extra money and wasting money on products and vitamins accept for the products of the regimen that im getting from that person. Then it'll be worth it.

JMO

again its trial and error.

I stopped giving free advise to co-workers, I even would buy them salon products to use but never got paid. you can give advise free but don't look for any money.

It depends on how much indepth info I'm getting.
I can't knock a sister for making some $.
Please believe I'd be doing the same if my hair care game was #1.
I think it's just paying for a service like we do to get on here.
It's more along the lines of paying for the convenience I suppose.
Instead of searching through 50-11 posts and threads, you have your very own hair guru at your service.
Plus, you'd get more personalized care that way.
It doesn't seem like a bad idea to me.

I guess it depends on what it is and the person I want it from. I think we are paying for regimen advice on here and np. We can ask questions, for help, when we are desperate or have done something really crazy or just need encouragement. Adopt a newbie is a very good example of this, they had to become paying members before they could get the advice and assistance they needed.

I have paid for books, DVDs, products, tools and utensils so why not a regimen if I felt it warranted it?

I have used Motown Girls phone service, where you pay for the phone call and talk to her for a specific amount of time at an appointed time during the day. It wasn't expensive at all and this was before I became a paying member here.

This was beneficial for me because I wanted to know more about oils, heavy versus light and when to use them and her hair type looked similar to mine and she was successful in growing, cutting and growing again her hair.

I have even contacted via phone call or email others like Robyn at Grow Afro Hair Long, and we won't even discuss the kind and wonderful ladies with fotkis.

The knowledge that has been dropped on me has been invaluable and I feel I have gotten my monies worth as well as tons and tons of free advice.

PS. I will be paying that 6.50 next year and every year there after because I have not only learned as well as taught others, I have met some really neat ladies and at least one or two gentlemen on this forum and others.:yep:

i don't think so. although you have to pay $6.50 to post here, if i had a problem that required my reggie to be tweaked and needed questions answered then i'll take it to a free board (or maybe do a search here). basically, you don't necessarily need to pay anything to get hair info here.

i didn't need someone's hands in my hair to tell me which exact products would work etc. it took a little trial and error but it worked for me. i would never tweak my reggie unless necessary.

She took a good idea and ran with it. I am very proud of her for doing what she's doing. So many ladies are learning wonderful hair care techniques thanks to her.

I've been giving free advice for years, but I'm happy to be able to help family, friends (real life and online) and co-workers.

It's definitely all good.

yes i would. Now i wouldnt pay alot of money for this advice since they might not be hair professionals. But 5 or 10 dollars for advice i would not mind. I mean if you really want to take care of your hair you gotta take chances and if its not that expensive why not .. we waste money on stupid stuff all the time so this is something worth trying.

I see a lot of professional hair stylists offering "free consultations" at the first appointment. That kind of implies that it isn't usually free. IDK. But I do expect "free" advice when I am paying during a hair service.

i personally would never pay someone for a regimen or any type of hair advice. but then again the only time i felt somewhat lost with my hair i found this site and have not had any problems since, but i have never had a problem growing my hair out, its more about knowing what to do with it.

I can totally understand the concept of why you are charging. I can't even imagine all of the personal emails you must receive. Even if questions are answered in a Q&A section, people still want their individual attention.

Back when I didn't know absolutely anything about hair care, $5 would have been no problem for a consultation from someone who has a proven track record.

It's a big world out there, so there are some people who are willing to research for answers, some want quick answers, some want one on one answers.

Only if my hair was so destroyed that I didn't know what else to do.

Otherwise no. There is entirely too much information for free from a variety of sources. That's whay it makes me so sad to see women with jacked up hair because the help and info is out there. All you have to do is LOOK.
