Braids in New England?

Are there any naturals (relaxer free, type 4 hair) here from the new england area? If so, I would appreciate a little advice about how you keep your hair in this dry climate. With winter coming advice on what products work best (natural products preferred) as well as styles would be great. I have been really contemplating braids but Im unsure where to go or the style. I have been really thinking about kinky twists (small ones). I need help!! Advise me...mold me lol.

When I went to school in Boston for 4 years I think I generally wore braids during the winter. It worked fine for me. This was before I knew about hair boards so I pretty much did NOTHING to my braids. But now I would make sure to keep them conditioned/moisturized.

If it were me, now I would use a spray moisturizer often (making sure to get the length of my hair moisturized). And I just wouldn't leave the house with my hair wet.
