Layers, when done correctly, give the appearance of volume. blunt usually makes hair appear less voluminous.

I am not fine-haired but I DEFINITELY believe that layered hair gives the effect of having more volume/fuller hair :yep:

Layers create a fuller shape to the hair, giving it the illusion that it's thicker.

I think blunt - you actually have all your hair, so it's as thick as it can be. Layers can make your hair look fuller, but I don't think it makes hair look thicker.

My hair looks much fuller with a blunt cut over layers. It tends to look stringy as I am now growing out my layered cut.

layered and curly... fine hair looks thick

layered and very fine hair worn str8...looks thin

If I had very fine hair/low density and wore it straight I would have a blunt cut.

ITA with the bolded. It looks cute once it's done but growing it out is different ball game. I personally like the V or U shape.

I have fine hair, and layers looked better! They gave it an 'umph'! Blunt cuts never lifted the hair, they always made my hair super flat and lifeless!:ohwell:

I have fine/thin hair and I keep layers in it to make it look thick and fuller. It does work.

I agree! I have fine hair! I have had it blunt and layered. For me I prefer LAYERS!!! They make my hair look thicker and it has better movement. I keep long layers.

I agree. Blunt cuts tend to be better for fine hair. It makes it look thicker since all ends are on the same wavelength. When you need more volume, rollerset it. Most hairstylist also agree. Blunt cut is the way to go.

Blunt. I've always heard that layers make the hair appear thinner, especially the ends. This is the reason I'll never get them.

I can only speak for my own hair...which is fine strands, but a lot of them:look:...my hair looks thicker with a blunt cut...it's heavier at the ends, too which gives a full look root-to-tip... when i have lavers, there is more volume at the top/middle but less at the bottom...it's like apples and oranges to me, because I like both, lol:yep:

My hair is very fine and I think that layers actually make my hair look thin, particularly when it's short or just relaxed. I also think that having layers is harder to grow out and easier to break or have split ends. A blunt cut--for me, ONLY--makes my hair look fuller and healthier.

i have fine hair and it is somewhat layered and it looks fuller until u get to the bottom. i only had it cut once and i had no choice but to have it layered since it was so damaged and i didnt want to lose all my length. i am growin em out and plan on cuttin once i hit bsl i think.

A friend of mine hair is thicker than mine. But she recently got her hair cut into a bob that is all one length and for some reason it now looks thinner than mine. If she gotten layers, it would have given the appearance of thicker hair because of how it falls. When it's all one length, there's really no volume so therefore it looks thin and limp, but when the layers are done correctly, they always makes the hair look thicker.

I accidentally hit layers, but my vote should be blunt cut. I have fine hair and I'm afraid layers would make my hair look thin. My sister just got layers and they look really nice, especially when her hair is curled and styled. However when its straight it looks kinda thin.

Yep, this is what I'm going for. I'm STILL trying to grow out a cut from May 2007 with 'layers" that left my hair wispy looking while growing out. =)
