Obsessed with OILS!

tiffers

Whisper "bleep boop" to yourself when you're sad.
I've recently fallen in love with oils, but am keeping myself in check because if I don't, my house will be full of the stuff.

I'm gonna use up what I have before buying more.

- JBCO
- Castor
- Coconut
- Sunflower
- Rice Bran
- WEN Lavender
- WEN Fig
- Enso Softening Serum
- Claudie's Garden Oil
- Silk Dreams Nourish (en route)

Once the WEN oils are gone, I'm gonna buy some hemp and wheat germ oils to get more ceramides in my life. :drunk:

Let's just say I have A LOT of them and I am very well stocked in eo's as well. :) Some of my oils are double duty tho - I use them in the kitchen and for body care products such as olive, coconut, safflower, grapeseed, sesame, sunflower, etc.

I hope everyone's keeping their stash refrigerated. I had a lot of oils go rancid on me before I figured that out.

I just made a fresh oil mixture of :

Hemp 3oz
Grapeseed 3oz
Sunflower 3 oz
JB Castor 1.5oz
Avocado 1.5oz
Olive 1 oz

I keep this mixture in the frig, because of the Hemp oil. I use this mixture for my oil rinses, that I do once a week. I did not use coconut oil in this batch. I plan to just that as a pre poo.

I am about to order some argan oil (100% pure) to use on my damp/dry hair.

@gn1g

The "Growth" Oils I listed are good because they all contain MSM (Sulfur) with the exception of Hydrathermal.

I use the Pequi and Argan in addition to my Leave-In with wet hair before getting under dryer. They give you a Smooth Set while drying *I'm relaxed*:yep:

Darcy's is an Oil Spritz so they more or less give you a Finishing Shine. Not Greasy. And they ALL Smell Wonderful.:lick:

The Jamaican Black Castor, the Pure Jojoba and Hairveda's Blends: Cocosta & Avosoya are make good scalp massages.

And Black Cumin Seed is good for a Healthy Scalp as well.

I also like Darcy's Pumpkin Seed Exlir and Shea Moisture Restorative Exlir as well.

*Hope that helps* Oh....I've never tried Rice Bran or Camelia Oil(s) but they get Great Reviews overall. Alot of people mix the Rice Bran with Other Oils and Conditioners and Camelia from my understanding makes a nice finishing oil.

QUESTION: I have some coconut oil that is 2 years old, and some sunflower oil that is about 18 months old. Both have been stored in cool dark places in tightly closed plastic bottles. I went crazy stocking up on oils in the past. My question is, are they still good? These are grocery store oils. Should I toss them?

i'm currently using a mix of evoo, meadowfoam, and kukui oils on my strands and they feel luscious and moist.
on my body i use a mix of veggie glycerin, evoo, evco, and grapessed ( sometimes i add melted west african shea to this mix or use east african shea alone) and apply to damp skin when i hop outta the shower.
on my face i use a mix of tamanu, meadowfoam and kukui after washing ang toning just a few drops.

LaidBak
if you are using them soley for hair and they don't smell rancid use them. evco has a very long shelf life. i store all my oils in the fridge except evoo, and evco.

Do they smell rank? If not, they're still good. Because of the way you stored them, that probably contributed to them not going bad. I had some coconut oil I just used up that I purchased in early 2009. I, also stored it in a cool, dark place.

ETA I don't store my oils in the refrigerator.

Nope, they smell fine so I guess I'm good to go. Thanks!
