There has been whispers about this but I just saw a video where the girl said that she repurchased 3 SM products and they didn’t perform in the same way.

I hope they don’t reformulate the coconut serum it works so well for me, better than all the others I have....

    Unilever is making its mark.

But whyyyy do these brands keep reformulating things that have been working well for people? I genuinely need to learn to make my own products smh

Agreed. It's just so short sighted because folks will stop buying the products.

This is like the 3rd round of reformulating. They changed the ingredients and made slight label changes at least twice is the past few years.

I only use their Hydrating shampoo and conditioner that I can now get in bulk at Costco. I hope they don’t change that.

The only products I have really liked from them was the original African Black Soap Purification mask, Sacha Inchi mask, High Porosity mask, Manuka Honey mask, JBCO leave-in. I can’t even find the Sacha Inchi mask anymore.

I’m really getting to the point of making all of my own products cause I’m sick of products changing. It’s rarely for the better. Aubrey Organics, Taliah Waajid, Giovanni, Kenra, Joico, Trader Joe’s all had products I considered staples & have changed the formulas of them.

I don’t know if their contract is up with certain labs and the lab owns the formula or they switch labs & the new lab comes up with their own version of a similar product. I just know I’m sick of it.

Just when I was finally warming up to taking them off my $#!* list...

At this point, I'm convinced they don't want my money so I'mma keep it and head out. I'll use up the few items I have now but after that, me Shea Moisture are over forever.

Been doing that for years. I stopped messing with them.

The purification masque was the last straw. They also retired products and didn’t warn anyone.
Oh well. I don’t feel we are there target audience anymore.

I miss their original Nubian heritage Shea Moisture leave in conditioner. It was the best hair product they ever made.

Never tried this one. I remember seeing it in the hair store all the time.

I used the raw shea butter shampoo and body wash for years, but it suddenly stopped cleansing as well. I believe it was one of the previous reformulations. I moved on from there. Glad I'm able to save that $10 per bottle.

I remember them changing their JBCO original OG products, and I just never allowed myself to get too attached.

I like the Manuka Honey DC. I use it as an instant conditioner in the shower since it coats and softens much quicker than most conditioners. I won’t really care if they change the formulation for that one, so long as the product still performs well. If the product just goes downhill, then whatever.

I have my staples, that have always gotten the job done, and their formulation has stayed the same since I was in middle school lol.

I know-right!? This is nothing new. I never bought anything from them unless there was a good sale which they don't have them anymore. I still have a rain check from several years ago that I forgot about! Lol

That's just so crazy because oily hair needs are different from dry hair needs. It's not a one size fit all with our hair Why don't they just formulate a line specific to oily hair types and one for dry hair like they do with skin care products? That makes more sense to me. Smh!

This ship sailed a long time ago. I remember when a YouTuber had a nasty surprise/wake-up call about this when she suddenly had an allergic reaction after purchasing more of an SM product that she regularly used. Though allergies can develop to anything at any time, she had strong reason to believe it was due to the formula change(s).
