So my ??th birthday is coming up, also combined with a graduation party and my mom is real excited (I think she wishes she were planning a wedding but that's a diferent convo)....
So she's been talking about this sit-down thing and my idea was to have a dinner with an "after-glow" so we can really dance (not booty-dance but like old-school dancing, "social-ing" and ballroom, and hustling) and so when I tell my mom this, she acts all surprised. She's like "do you dance? I didn't know you went to clubs." and I'm like "Um, noooo". And then she's like "dancing and drinking usually go together" and I'm like "um, they don't have to...." and then she sounds so shocked like I dance like I hit the club every weekend (which I didn't do outside a couple of times in early college with one of my good friends and HER MOM SHOWED UP!).
I explained that I have been to many events, e.g., wedding receptions, birthday parties, and even corporate/company parties and academic conferences where dancing took place and I danced. I learned all the latest hustles at corporate events and academic conferences! Professors do party!

Also, I did remind her that she threw my brother and I birthday parties where there was dancing (yeah, when we were little children) and I was kinda like "what's the dif?" and that's when she was like there's a difference between children and grown-ups dancing and drinking....
I know where my mom's reaction is coming from.... She grew up STAUNCH COGIC and raised us similarly. But Mom and Dad did have their time when they were not fully in church like they are now and they did their partying and dancing....
I feel like I (Lord willing) make it to ?? milestone birthday PLUS GRADUATE with my third graduate degree (Hallelujah!).... I just feel like can I celebrate? Celebrate with some rejoicing and dancing and good times?
I feel like I have missed out a little bit on that part of life and I feel like I've earned some partying time....
And I'm believing the Lord that I will meet a man (not just any man) but a real, real, ideal man who can and will be my date/escort/fiance at my birthday/graduation party....

I don't want to subject others to that. They may think he's having a seizure and call the paramedics and that copay ain't no joke!

Ain't nothing worse than a stale dry Christian no-party atmosphere. Errrr body just sittin' and eatin' and walkin' either to and from the bathroom or just sittin' doing nuthin'...........just sittin'
