Thinking of texturizing my hair.... myself

I posted yesterday about how I want a change with my 4a/4b hair, and today I'm actually considering going the texturizer route and doing it myself. I've just read through all of the previous posts that have to do with texturizers, and I understand the importance of a strand test.... since I was thinking about chopping down to about 3 inches anyway, if I don't like how the texturized hair looks, I'll cut and start over...

Anything I should be aware of besides doing a strand test? I've never relaxed my own hair before. Finger smooth and don't comb through, right?

Hey girl,
Put vaseline on your scalp first. Add some conditioner and olive oil to the texturiser.
I always comb mine through I only do the new growth.
I've never ever done a strand test but I'm lazy.
S curl regular strength works well.
It's really easy.. Good luck

To each his own. :)
I comb through. I do a strand test from time to time on hair taken from various sections of my head because I have about 4 different textures and they need different timing.

Good luck!
