Use Up Your Stash 2012 - Session 1

I threw out the rest of the Natures Gate Chamomile conditioner. It worked ok. Since I have some new conditioners to try I figured I would just let it go since I knew I wouldn't ever have great results with it.

I tried the Shea Moisture Anti-breakage mask last night. And used the Shea Moisture Yucca Growth Moisturizer. I like both of them so far. I will use them again this weekend but this time I will add something with glycerin in it to help hold the moisture and then try to use up the rest of that Joie Naturals Gel.

I haven't finished any products yet, but I have made progress in some of my products. I have about 1/2 a bottle of my natures gate biotin condi and less than 1/3 of my NTM leave in left. Also, I noticed that I have hit the halfway mark on my 1 liter bottle of my Wave Nouveau moisturizer! :clapping: That's a huge accomplishment for me since I've had that bottle since 2010 or so... :look:

About to do a cowash mixed with an oil rinse.
Aussie Moist and WGO..... Hopefully Aussie will be gone soon.

I am almost done with this (French Stabilizer Plus),will not be rebuying.

I used this tonight after my cowash and my hair felt soooo good, now I am rethinking what I said :lachen:

Making progress on my stash! I had a guest last week and she helped herself generously to my hair products. I used up 3 conditioners this week and will finish up two deep conditioners on their last legs tomorrow (will mix them up). :yay:

lamaria211, awww man I either have some of those products or never heard of them. I was trying to see what I could buy LOL

Yall I am so proud of myself, I have not bought anything this whole year.....at least nothing that I know of LOL.

Finished up some Proclaim Styling gel last night. Good product, but not great so probably won't buy it again.

Its wash day. Haven't used anything up. But using some Shea Moisture Yucca conditioner and the leave-in. Used more of my castor oil blend. I think I only have 2 more uses of the Shea Moisture Yucca conditioner. And two more uses of my castor oil blend.

Tomorrow is was day for me.....will be using Protein products (Aphogee).
Hey @faithVA, you thanked my question earlier but do you have an answer? That will determine if I will buy more clarifying poo or use that up first.

If you dont have an answer I will wait around and see what the other will say.

I love the Redken Smooth Down Heat Glide. That's some good stuff - very light, doesn't leave a residue, and doesn't weigh down the hair. Please do share how you like/dislike the Joico K-Pak collection when you try it. Been eying that stuff for a while but bring myself to shell out the cash.

Oh... and I haven't used up anything since my last update. :ohwell:

I thank most things I read just to let me know I read it.

I don't have an answer for you. I don't know much about clarifying shampoos. I know that neutralizing shampoos are ph balanced.

If I had to guess, I would say they are not the same. A neutralizing shampoo would be to ph balance your hair, especially after a chemical treatment. A clarifying shampoo would be to remove substances from the surface of your hair.

But I'm just guessing.

Meritamen, I am hoping that I will like the Redken too,how do you apply yours? To the whole head at once, apply it on quarters or what?

The K-Pak was only $15 for all 3 items, JCP had a little deal on it for the month of April.

I thank most thinks I read just to let me know I read it.

faithVA, LOL now that I think about it you do LIKE everything.
Yea the neutralizing poo is (LOW) pH based to close the cuticles, and I dont know about the claifying....if I had to be a mini scientist for a sec I would say its (HIGH) pH based so that it could open up the cuticles to get the junk out/off the hair.
But I was thinking in my head, they do the same thing as far as removing so why not use it LOL.

I bought CurlFormers, A hair net, A hair bonnet and 4 wigs. NO products :woot: go me!

I didn't use anything up hair is still in braids.

I put in braids today. Used up my Joie Naturals Gel.

I had a $10 Walgreen certificate that expired today so I bought Nubian Heritage Growth and Strength Hemp Masque. Went to the black Walgreen they had everything. I had never seen many of those products before. I should have gone there when they had the Buy 1 Get 1 50% off. My Walgreen didn't have anything :nono:

Using my SM Mist pretty regularly so, it won't last much longer either. I should use up a few products in May :yep:

I did OK this session. I'm down to 43 items to start session II on 5/1:yep::yep:

I've kind of stalled out. My leftovers weren't really giving my hair what it needed. So I went and bought some more of my tried and true conditioners. I think at this point I need to start just giving stuff away.

Since tomorrow is the last day of the challenge and I know I won't get anything finished, i figured I'd do a final product count.

Start of challenge: 24
Used up: 16
Bought: 14
Final Stash: 20

Even though it doesn't look like I did much this session, I'm actually learned a lot about my hair and regimen from this. I was on a personal no buy until April 1st and I did really good. Most of the products I purchased were actually to replace staples. I also colored my hair which warranted finding more moisturizing conditioners.

Obviously I'll be in session 2, but I don't know how good I will be since I'll be in braid extensions for most of it.

I ended much higher than I started but I am ok with it. I bought some products and my LHCF hair buddy Tashboog send me a care package of the stuff she can't use. So I have more products, but they are things I know how to use and want to give a try to get my moisture regimen straight. I don't mind having a bigger stash if I really know what I'm going to do with it.
