BEWARE Dove Moisture Mist has CHANGED!

Okay, so lately I have been using my Dove Sheer Moisture Mist and I've been really liking it. Instead of piling on more moisturizer I've been using this spray to kinda "reactivate" the products in my hair and for a quick shot of moisture.

Anyway, while in CVS I saw Dove hair products were on sale, so I decided to pick up another bottle of the Mist. I get it home and look at the ingriedients and lo and behold they have CHANGED! :wallbash: This is a real pet peeve of mine when companies change ingriedients. Here is a side-by-side comparison of the old and the new.

old:
Water (aqua), Amodimethicone, Glycerin, Cetrimonium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Polysorbate 20, DMDM Hydantoin, Trideceth 12, Lysine HCl, Phosphoric Acid, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Silk Amino Acids (Alanine, Glycine, Serine, Arginine), Simethicone, Borago Officinale Seed Oil (Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Linoleic Ac), Polyquaternium 4, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Sorbatian Stearate, Polysorbate 60

new:
Water (aqua), Amodimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Polysorbate 20, DMDM Hydantoin, Trideceth 12, Phosphoric Acid, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Simethicone, Polyquaternium 4, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Sorbatian Stearate, Polysorbate 60

They have pretty much taken out the good stuff silk amino acids and all. The new bottle subtly states "with Repairing Serum" aka not so moisturizing. :perplexed I sprayed the old spray on one hand and the new on the other and the former was definitely more moisturizing. I'm going to return this bottle back to CVS. This makes me want to just create my own moisture mist and call it a day. :ohwell:

I'm so hurt...:nono:

This explains why I was searching high and low in nyc and couldn't find no dayum mist....dayumed revamping of product...

so when I went to AZ...I grabbed two bottles off of the shelf, not even thinking that there was change. *glad I didn't buy more :ohwell:*

I'll add some SAA and Kids Organics to the bottle and shake it up....:ohwell:

DANG! It was one of my staples. I'm going to have to go to WalMart and shoppers Drug Mart and buy all the 'old' formulas I can get my hands on. I love to use it for my wash n' gos and to keep hair moisturized throughout the day.

Why do they always mess with a GOOD thing?! :nono:

Yup, saw the difference then forgot about it...no wonder I found it for $3 and change instead of nearly$6!!!!

I TOTALLY agree with you.

That's the exact reason why I took that same path with my skin moisturizers.

I'm sure theytook those ingredients out to cut cost:dollar:s; and I commed you on watching the ingredients in the products you use.:notworthy

What ingriedients are on your 2 new bottles Mona, are they the new formula too?

No wonder some ladies who tried the Mist said it didn't work, they prolly tried the new not so improved junk!

This should this first commandment for hair product companies THOU SHALT NOT MESS WITH A GOOD THING.

They did the SAME THING with the conditioner. I found the old formula repackaged as a deep conditioner, in smaller packaging of course.

Well I'll be dayum! They just took all of the good stuff out of it. Oh well. It was good while it lasted.:ohwell:

Yeah, all the nice things in the mist they chucked, yet you better believe it's the same price so they make more money.

Thanks girl, when it comes to my tresses, homey don't play ingriedient changes! :naughty:

Yup.......it's the new formula.....:wallbash:

I KNEW something was off, but I just disregarded it....I've been so stressed, tired and running around....it didn't even occur to me that the ingredients had changed...I just found myself reaching for the AB Leave In Hair Mayo more often though....

I saw your post and ran to the closet to check.....

If I can locate just two of the old bottles....I'm ready to do an "exchange" :look:

I hate when they go about changing the ingredients of your favorite hair products for the worse. I wanted to use Herbal Essences Hello Hydration conditioner (because it smells super-good and is very moisturizing) but, to my horror, I looked on the back of the ingredients of one bottle and compared it to the other, and I found that the older bottle had more moisturizing ingredients and the newer formula had some things that I was suspicious of in it :nono:. All in all, I just stick with conditioners from whole foods. They usually contain pretty good ingredients.

Okay, if you look at my history of posts I am pretty laid back and try to keep it positive and real. But on a few posts I have well.........LOST IT!!!

AND THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TIMES!!!!!!!!!

Its also the same formula as pantene ice shine conditioner

I don't use this product but I sympathize. I HATE when I find a good product and then they change the ingredients and ruin it.

I just checked my daughters bottles and the last one is new and man I am mad; good thing I am a product junky on some things.:wallbash::perplexed

I just looked at a bottle of my Elasta QP Silk, one of my old ones and a new one I just bought from Sally's I have 1 old one from Sally's and they took out the Keratin Silk out of it. Now I am going to have to go to my old BSS store and see if they have any old bottles.

There, there MsCocoface, it's gonna be alright. :hug2:

Although the hyperbole of your post did make me chuckle just a lil' bit. :giggle:

I say we don't get mad, let's get EVEN. :whip: :jaws:

We'll hit 'em where it hurts. Do they honestly think we'll shell out our hard earned cash for a gutted, bootleg formula of Dove Mist? They can just fugetaboutit. :gunner7:

We can whip up something comparable if not better. I was thinking of the following ingriedients:

distilled water
glycerin
CHI Infusion: for silk
VO5 Champagne Kisses conditioner: for softness, this also contains silk
one's preferred oil of choice

2 can play at this game, we'll teach 'em to mess with our stuff!

Nooooooooooooo!

I was *JUST* thinking I had to buy some tommorow. It seems to be one of the few things that keeps my hair moisturized. First the Herbal Essence Leave-In Conditioner (forumula from 1999) and then now this :nono:

wow I really need to start paying attention to ingredients.....these companies try to pull a bait and switch on us in a heartbeat! :nono:

Damn, this happens to everything I like. That's why I am such a pj. When you think you've found one HG, they just up and change it so you must always have another on hand.

Girl, I am already thinking about some ingredients to whip up. I normally do my own mixes for just about everything. What you have looks good. Never tried the CHI Infusion, can this be purchased at any store?

Luckily I stocked up months ago when everyone was raving about it. I checked my 4 bottles :look: ...... Thanks Goodness they all have the original ingredients.
