lace front wig thread

Hey ladies I need some help when it comes to lace front wigs. I think this thread will be great for us gals trying to learn more about lacefronts. I would like to find a cheap lacefront less than a bill to start off and then move up to a full lace one once I get the hang of the frontal. So let's go ladies bring out your pics and recomendations as well as where you get yours and how to care for them. I had my eye on the Beverly Johnson Kimora lacefront so if anyone has this please chime in.

Great thread. I purchased mine off Ebay and wore it for about 2 months. Im now giving it a break with a regular human hair wig. I used tape a few times but ended up sewing wig clips on mine.

How much was it? Do you have pictures? I am extremely curious about LF but I have been hesitant b/c of the cost.

I purchased two synthetic LF's this weekend from the BSS.
I posted pics in the wig thread. Hold on, I'll try to find them. One is in my siggy.
I'll be back.

Here's the thread with the pics:

I wish this could be added for a siggy like on BHM. Mods? Maybe?

Those wigs are hot! How did you attach them? I am scared to death of the tape and adhesives? How is your hairline holding up? Sorry for all the questions.

You do not have to be sorry. Feel free to ask as many questions as you want.

I should have put the other link from my other post up there too.

I have not attached that with anything. The wigs that I have actually have a comb in the back and two combs at the side. They also have the adjustable straps in them (like a regular wig).

So, I just made the strap really tight. The wigs came with some tape. I had purchased some extra, but when I got home and thought about it, I did not want to mess up my hairline like that.

My hairline is doing pretty good. I use the combs, but I put on a satin cap or headband around my hairline. Then I tuck the combs up under there.

The lace in the wigs are kind of stiff, for lack of a better term. I think that's what helps somewhat. I don't think I'd be able to get away with a human hair wig without using glue and/or tape.

ETA: It's too bad I don't think I would be able to find these wigs in a BSS where I live (I'm in the DMV area too). I actually had to go back home to Virginia Beach to find them (while on vacation). Quite frankly, I was shocked they even had them.

I bought Kimora at ebfhair.com for $58.99 (free shipping) but it was really big and bushy on me - not like the store version that I tried on for $99. I think that BJ made 2 versions of Kimora. I sent my Kimora back.

I also have 2 invisilace synthetic lace front wigs by Modu - #101 & #107
Photos are in my fotki.

Those are the two I purchased. I purchased the 101 b/c of the pics in your Fotki. That's the one I have on in my siggy.
I didn't realize you had the 107 too until after I had purchaed it and had got back home. LOL. :lachen:

I love those wigs. Thanks so much for posting your pics of them.

I just found 4 lacefronts at the BSS but the lace was stiff and I could not try them on and the lace did not go to the sides they were 79.99 but I just was not feeling them so I got 2 phony ponies to tide me over until I get a lacefront lol. I think I will be getting the beverly johnson joint.

I like the Beverly Johnson that I saw, but I would have to get my stylist to thin it out or something. It was cute but very thick.

I thought that there were 2 because there are some really cute ones on ebay that were like 80 to 100 bucks but they looked thinner and cuter than the original. I think I will be ordering from ebay. How much were the modus and where were these purchaced? Also how did you aplly them tape or glue?

 #101 is my favorite so far.

I bought the Modu wigs locally at the BSS. They were $60 or so each.
$100 is too much to pay for a synthetic lace front.

LHWigs.com sells Kimora on their site AND on ebay but the ebay prices have gotten up to $200+ for the SAME wig on their site for like $80 w/ free shipping. Do your research.

But are these the thin ones or the thick ones? The ones on ebay say you can use heat on them.

Kimora is NOT made of futura fiber. There are lots of ads all over the internet that claim it's Futura Fiber but it's not. www.amekor.com is the BJ site and it notes that Kimora is NOT made of futura fiber.

I have seen some ladies use heat on Kimora but it was only luck that the wig did not melt. Futura Fiber can withstand heat up to like 300 degrees (think flat iron).

I have 3 lacefront wigs. 2 synthetic and 1 human hair. I had a 4th synthetic lacefront but I gave that one to my mother.

The first one is totally corny and it wasn't lacefront even tho' that's what the package stated. I didn't feel like taking it back and arguing with the guy at that particular BSS it wasn't worth it to me, it was only $25. :ohwell:

The 2nd and 3rd one (3rd went to my mother) looked a total HAM on me. :nono: It was very cute on the manequin tho. :ohwell:

Two of the synthetic ones are curly with different mixtures of 1b/30 and the 3rd one was straight and long...The straight hair synthetic lf costed $25 the curly hair lf costed $70 each :wallbash:

My 4th purchase was/is a human hair lacefront. It's a chin length bob, 100% pure remy human hair. The maker is by "Janet collections". The color is #2. This one costed me $120 (because I purchased it straight from the manequin's head and they gave me a discount). They gave me free tape but I will not be using it since I plan on taking the wig off daily. It fits pretty snug by itself but I will still use hair pins to secure it.

And before ya'll hit me with the "this post is worthless without pics"..... PICS COMING TOMORROW. I promise.

I seem to recall some ladies saying that they glue the wigs on and the glue stays adhered for a few weeks up to a few months. How easily would one be able to wash/condition/moisturize while wearing the lacefront for that long? I bet with the expensive LFs that are completely made of lace you'd have an easier time, but the cheaper synthetic ones... are they entirely made of lace or usually just the front portion?

The synthetic ones I have only have lace in the front and a little on the sides, so I won't be wearing any high pony tails. But I can wear a low one and wear a partial one (with the bottom part of my hair down)...if that makes sense.

So I just orderded the Beverly Johnson Kimora for like 67 bucks with shipping thanks reg's wife! I can't wait to see how it looks! If I don't like it there's always ebay. I would like to get a real full lace wig in a couple of months so ladies let me know wheres the best place to buy one and how much am I looking at/ I don't need no 1000 unit so keep it reasonable lol. I will also post pics when my LF gets here.

OP. You can check out my fotki and look at my lace wig album for style ideas, how and where to buy lace front wigs. Hope it helps.

So what is the diffrence between remy hair, malaysian hair, chinese hair. And what about the diffrent lace which is best?

I have had over 10 lace fronts in the past but now I am focused on my own hair. They were fun while I wore them though. I really didn't care for adhesives so I would sew clips around the perimeter and use small bobby pins in the front instead. There is a lot of information on blackhairmedia.com forum.

I bought most of my wigs from the chinese vendors that I read about on bhm. They use indian or chinese remi hair and I normally paid between $205- $250 shipping included but I usually go with 20" or longer hair. The prices get lower for shorter lengths.

I just ordered one and its a virgin chinese natural permed texture. Cant wait for it to get here. I will definitely post pictures when it comes.

For those ladies who do use glue, which adhesive do you feel is best and last the longest?

shadylane, let us know how the Kimora is when you get it. I really like that one as well.
