re: the images in siggies, what is 1/4th of the screen size on one monitor can be more or less on another's monitor. It is also possible to make a small image that is still huge in size in terms of bytes. Why not say your signature cannot be over x pixels wide and y pixels high and x bytes in size?

re: the personal blogs. Well...that one makes no sense. It takes away from the sense of community, and it punishes those who have blogs without ads on them. Talk about adults--the entire group being punished for the actions of a few should have stopped in high school.

But whatever. Rules are rules.

Regarding the blogs I have the following solutions:

1. You have your blog here. This is convenient but your blog is not public so if you want to share it with people that are not members of this site, then you cannot. Although this is a good solution it restricts members a lot.
2. If you want to reference/quote some content you have in your blog you can copy it and paste it here. Since you are the author there is no copyright infringement.

Both the above are within the rules but admittedly they are restrictive towards the members. This community is all about information and choice and we do not want to remove the choice that our members have.

Yes it is not fair for those that have blogs without ads but how do you suggest we go about it? We cannot possibly check every blog can we?

I think we will get to the bottom of this soon enough. Our rules have always been there but you will admit we have been very relaxed about it. Lately though we have seen such an abuse towards the signatures that we had to do something.

I am investigating the option of offering more user friendly blogs and galleries to our members so that the LHCF can be a one stop shop for everyone. If your blog is nice and customizable plus public then it might be a good option for some.

i have a 27 inch monitor set at max resolution. 1/4 the screen could probably hold a novel and then some. on my 13 inch macbook 1/4 the screen can barely hold a couple sentences. so i agree with the person that said the siggy image size should be a pixel value and not just "1/4 the screen" since that can vary drastically.

for example, we've been drooling over reniece's reveal so lets check out her fotki: http://members.fotki.com/Reniece20/about/

what have we there? a link to her business website and photos of her business as a weave specialist.

so i LOL @ this 'advertising' business. Mods got folks running scared. There will always be a way for folks to skirt the system. So, folks blog, post pix, advertise their businesses and sell stuff all on Fotki.

Ok, I'm done. I don't have a blog or a fotki and I think my kitty in my siggy is an appropriate size. I just wonder how the decision for fotki to remain the only okay link was made.

:scratchch Hmmm...possibly a partnership? Well, I don't have either Fotki or youtube blogs..just fabhairproject since it's free so I'm in the clear :yep: As for the size of images, I believe anything bigger than 200 x 200 is too big, but that's JMHO.

Unfortunately I post more when there is drama or bans floating around. In all cases it is when things have gone too far. There was a famous "let's use Nikos as a target practice once a few years back", which in effect raised my post count by 100 in a matter of hours. :) Nowadays this is as much time as I have to post but I monitor the forum on a daily basis not only from a technical point of view but also from content.

Maria from Boston, I will have to disappoint you. I am the exception in this community not only for being male but by having really short hair. The texture is very thick so it does not allow for long hair as my head will overheat :)

I thought Niko was just an urban hair legend...:lachen:

Nah. Flesh and bones - not a legend.

There are some pictures of me floating around. The last time I met some of the ladies here was a couple of years back when we had a really nice meeting at B.Smith's restaurant - Union Station/DC.

I promise I will try and make the next meeting in DC. I just have to keep an eye out as to when it will happen :)
